Slinky_Malinki wrote: »Thanks you two. I think I'll book them asap then. The prices on virginholidays look fair enough and include the car. I know I could do it cheaper getting a package holiday but this is the once in a lifetime thing before children and weddings so I'll push the boat out a little bit.
You might be better off booking through Virgin Atlantic (believe it or not, separate company to Virgin Hols), and getting the car separately. Although Virgin Hols include the car in the price for a fly drive, they charge so much for insurance it can work out more expensive even though the car is (in theory) free :eek:0 -

Thanks. I'll hold on and wait until Virgin Atlantic release their flights and see what happens. It looks like there'll be 4 adults so that might work out cheaper as the Virgin Holiday price for 4 is just twice the price it is for 2. I presumed it might have dropped a bit with the car.0 -
Hi. Thomas Cook (Monarch flight) have flights from Manchester to Sanford on Oct 7th 2011 for £565.22. Not too bad at today's prices although they do add on meals, luggage etc. They're not the greatest, but we travel regularly with Virgin and they aren't so great these days either! We like direct (from Manchester), but I don't think there's much to choose between airlines now, so best price does it for us!0

The other half is a teacher and can only get the blackberry week and a week either side off as she'll be working a week during the holidays to get in credit. We'll need to fly between the 14th and 23rd October.
I enquired about the villa I was after and it's already taken. The owner phoned me up and was offering different dates but we're very much restricted. He said he has links to a travel agent who will get pre-release flight prices for his guests - is this the case for most villa owners or just a one off?0 -

very true the virgin fleet that serves LGW,MAN and glasgow is not the best anymore, they seem to be charter quality with scheduled price tag in my opinion.
i was looking at thomson flights and found i could have the premium product on a 767 for less than virgin economy next sept.however i did book virgin flydrive in the end as i got 15% discount for being frequent club member with free vroom and car upgrade included.i can use virgin miles to upgrade to premium should i wish to so that swung it for me.
i have had a magazine from virgin come today offering up to 30% discount on disney packages might be worth looking at.
https://www.virginholidays.co.uk/disney
also have a search on thomson i put in date range from 1st oct-31st oct 2011 and it came up with prices from £558 for birmingham and manchester departures depending on what dates you would like.
http://flights.thomson.co.uk/thomson/en-GB/farefinder/default?originAirportCode=BHX,EMA,LPL,MAN&destinationAirportCode=SFB&originPreselection=&flexDate=0&timeSpanStartDay=01&timeSpanStartYearMonth=2011-10&timeSpanEndDay=31&timeSpanEndYearMonth=2011-10&departureDay=14&departureYearMonth=2010-10&flexibleBy=0&duration=13-28
whatever you decide i would book sooner rather than later as orlando is one of the busiest routes and prices do not normally go down only up with increased demand.0 -

I am looking at surprising my wife with our first holiday away together since her Dad passed away two years ago. She has mentioned many times how she would love to go to Orlando again to do all the Disney things.
It is difficult for me to read everything on here without her realising what I am up to.
I am looking at booking at the beginning of April for the new financial year/holiday year and there will only be us two going.
I am looking to obviously do this on a budget as there is not long now until April.
Any help much appreciated on Flights, accom etc and I will try and read through everything when able.
Thanks!!!0 -

When are you looking to go?
Are you prepared to fly indirect to save money?
Do you want a package or DIY?
Villa, offsite hotel, Disney, or other?
Do you want to drive?
Budget?
Very difficult to help on such a broad subject without some pointers
The first post in this thread will give you some ideas.0 -
Thanks for the quick response Karen, any help is much appreciated. I have answered all the questions below.
When are you looking to go? Going on Monday 28th March or any time that week.
Are you prepared to fly indirect to save money? Prefer to travel direct.
Do you want a package or DIY? Happy with package or DIY (package may be easier?)
Villa, offsite hotel, Disney, or other? Would love villa but not sure if viable for 2 so hotel fine if a lot cheaper.
Do you want to drive? Yes I will drive.
Budget? Looking at about £700pp for flights, accom and car for two weeks but this is negotiable.
I hope this helps.

i would suggest looking at skyscanner, kayak etc to see what prices they bring up for flights and also hotels.also google orlando villas to see what prices come up.
you could also post on the travel agent quote thread all your requirements and see what they can come up.
https://www.thedibb.co.uk is also a very good site for all things disney including villa recommendations0
