We due to goto Florida in 6 weeks or so and are staying at a hotel opposite Wet n Wild. We have a hire car for the duration but the cost of parking at the theme parks is around $15 per day so would soon mount up. Looking at the maps I can see that both Seaworld and Aquatica are about an hours walk away so probably abit too far to walk back after a hard days theme parking but Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure looks like its just over the road.

Does anyone know if its possible to walk to these two as on google maps the roads look a little dangerous to try crossing or is there any special bridge or underpass.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

Pretty sure you can do this, yes. I haven't done it myself so cannot say for sure though!

But.... if you are going to the expense of a hire car, it would seem a false economy to me to leave it in the hotel car park while you walk to the theme parks. You are already paying for the car and insurance. So if walking is an option you could just ditch the car altogether and spend the money you save on something else.

Time is precious in Orlando, and personally I would suggest the $14 you would save could easily be swallowed up by not driving (would you have to buy extra water after the walk... for instance).

Aquatica and Seaworld are a very long (and not particularly nice) walk from Wet N Wild.

Us too!! We fly 6 weeks tomorrow. :T Are you staying at the Sheraton? We stayed there about 10 yeears ago.

Have you have a look for the Lynx buses to see if they run there, I would have thought so.

    I hope this helps: http://trip1.golynx.com/tripplanner/#7=1%253b8=201009130945%253b550=5%253b100=1%253b11=230%253b12=5280%253b13=4%253b9=0%253b16=itinerary%253b3=WET%2520N%2520WILD%2520WATER%2520PARK%253b14=1%253b0=1%253b6=UNIVERSAL%2520STUDIOS%2520CITY%2520WALK%253b15=1%253b4=28.474193431117598%253b5=-81.46529867108029%253b17=28.46810474417949%253b18=-81.46465067282377%253b19=14%253b23=Map%253b28=0%253b20=0%253b1=28.462017783205027%253b2=-81.46522771151427%253b22=1

If you go onto the lynx site there is a planner and it gives you walking instructions. it reckons that it is 1 mile from wet n wild to Universal City Walk. You can go down Universal Boulevard and get to the park, there is a map on there that shows you how to do it.

You can also walk up to Kirkman Road and get the Bus to Universal, it is the 40 Lynx Bus, costs $16 for a 7 day pass or $2 for a single trip http://www.golynx.com/assets/userfiles/routemaps/40.pdf

We are having our free Virgin HP breakfast on Monday 25th. Will you be there?

PS. the roads are lethal to cross, have your wits about you and get ready to RUN! There are very few pathways and one day the bus doors opened and their was a bush right across the doorway. The bus drivers stay in the box they are allowed and we have to lift the buggy and 2 toddlers over the hedge. And sometimes the path will just end onto grass. The cabbie told us that no-one walks and if they see people walking they know they are tourists, LOL.

Hi Blue_Monkey I am so sorry I missed all of your problems here. Next time please drop me a PM and I will see who i can get you in contact with. It should never be as hard as you have had it and I am certain the right people woudl have sorted this much quicker for you.

However, its done now so nice one, relax and enjoy. You will have an ace time I am sure. We are back over in Oct as well.

    Cheers
    Craig

Thank you, I did not know you could help to be honest. I could not even believe how rude some of them were in all honesty, Disney is not usually like that.

I called up to verify the T&C as I wanted to post them here and make sure no-one else got causght old, she asked why and said 'No, I am sure someone from Guest Services can help you out'. Now, their Guest Services have to be the worst ever. I was generally,on hold for about 50 minutes before having to ut the phone down and having to call back as 'they are terribly busy'.

Anyhow, when i finally got through at 7.55 on Wednesday night the Guest Services ladies said 'why are you calling again, you have already been told that you cannot have the tickets until the 7th'. I said that other lady saiud GS might be able to help and so thought I would try and she was just rude to me. Really, really rude. not at all what I expected from Disney to be honest.

We can get on an enjoy it now though. Just to add another little thing.... oh no, nothing ever runs smoothily!! We asked school before booking it last year and was told it would be fine to take 10 days, however, I put the holiday form in and have not got it back. On Friday we got the school newsletter which says 'no holidays will be authorised in term time due to a policy change, do not book holidays in term times'. LOL, they know where they can stick that!!

They have, however, made one of the days I have booked off an inset day so I am resubmitting the holiday form and letting the kids have an additional day off to get through the jet leg. We get back Sunday Morning - I do not think the kids would have been ready to go back on Monday anyhow. I will be attaching a letter to tell them I will not be cancelling my holiday because they decided to change their policy!!

    Happy days.

Have booked DD into Bibbiddy Bobbidy Boutique for her Birthday (its a surprise) have booked DS the 'Little Dudes' package so he fdoes not feel left out and then we have Chef Mickeys booked in the evening.

Tickets booked for the Xmas and Halloween parties. We paid our balance today and they noted on the screen it says we are getting our tickets early. So all I think we will need is the confirmation and a passport. I am not confident our doements will arrive in time as we have asked for them early but we shall see.

Yes, I'd agree with Karen. We are 'carless' for this reason tbh. Last time we got buses and cabs everywhere and spent less than £300 and it would have cost us £350 for the car without fuel and tolls so it would have been a false economy for us.

Besides the fact my husband is an impatient driver, hates traffic, hates queues, every other driver is doing something wrong, waiting to park he is huffing and puffing, lo behold if ti takes more than a minute to find a space - and he an even worse as a passenger as he does not have to look at the road to critise other drivers and even if I am driving he is moaning. I leave that at Gatwick, thank you and have a bit of peace on holiday!!!!

He was however speechless when we got a 'prestige' car from the hotel and the driver was on his mobile with one hand, one his CB with the other and was steering the cab with his knees.....

Hi all, I've briefly skimmed this thread so sorry if it's already been asked, me and a friend are planning a 2 week stay in a disney hotel next june or sept. When's the best time to book? Also I'll be 21 then, with one claim over a year ago on my english insurance, is it worth getting a hire car for a few days say to drive to universal/sea world etc? Obviously if we're staying in Disney wont need a car. Do travel agents do january sales for package holidays? Hoping to fly with BA/Virgin :)
  • I have booked for next sept already as prices were going up daily when I was checking in may, it could be cheaper leaving longer but I did not want to risk higher prices and availability issues as it is very popular.
Not essential but I would recommend a car for a few days to have a break from Disney, places like sea worl, universal and Kennedy are all worth visiting.don't worry about your insurance claim they don't ask if you have had accidents over here they haven't with me anyway.

Thanks BlueMonkey. We actually dont leave until Wednesday 27th so a couple of days after you do and we're staying at the Orlando Metropolitan Express which is just down the road. Cheap and Cheerful but as were not in it much I shouldnt matter. We went 2 years ago and we loved it.

We arent planning on walking everywhere just to Universal as its just down the road, I know Aquatica etc is alot further so we would still take the car for those days.

Thanks for the info and enjoy your holiday!

    Hi technium,

I've walked to Universal City Walk before. Stayed at the Orlando Continental Plaza, which is practically opposite Wet 'n' Wild. Took about 20 minutes to get to the entrance of City Walk, and was a very open walk, so not one to do when it's really hot. Probably also wouldn't reccommend doing it with kids (if you have them).

It was just me and my OH when we did it, and we just went to have a wander round the shops and grab something to eat, which was fine. Probably wouldn't have wanted to walk there and then spend a day walking round the park, but it is doable if that's what you want to do.

How do you get the free breakfast BM? We are flying with Virgin on the 27th but there has been no mention of a free breakfast - do you have to apply for it, or is it just given to you?

Have a great time by the way
