This is my first post on this topic so bear with me. Me hubby and 4 kids (14, 9, 6, 4) are hoping to go to Florida next year but it has to be Easter as i'm a uni student so can only get 2 weeks off at Easter and 3 in summer.
Now i've had a look at prices but the direct ones are coming in pretty high and I don't really want to have to do 1 or 2 stops with 4 kids. Also, having read some of the posts on here, I don't even know where to start with entrance tickets etc so any advise would be much appreciated x0 -
Thomson fly from Bristol and Travel City direct will be flying from Cardiff next year. For the size of party you have going I would really recommend a villa rather than hotels. I have found it much cheaper to book villas direct on my 5 visits to Florida over the years and have never had a problem. This year we have booked with an established agency run by a very helpful lady.
With 4 kids and your first visit I would say you need to plan thoroughly. Trust me this will help you enjoy your holiday so much more as there's a lot to do. Have a look at the various sites and see which parks your family are interested in doing then you can come back and work out which ticket deals suit you best.
Be very wary of flights that offer free car hire as they will then charge more for insurance than you will pay for the entire package by doing this yourself. If you want any specific advice feel free to send me a direct message as I love to talk about Florida0 -
I have just checked my luggage allowance for my Thomas Cook flight in 3 weeks and we are allowed a stingy 15kg each:eek:
I think I am going to need some lightweight cases and there wont be much being brought back this time:(
Does this weight allow for hand luggage too or is that seperate?
15 kilo for long haul is a disgrace,i also think they are just as tight on the leg room no different to short haul.0 -

Thanks for the advice. I really should update my profile as we don't live in Bristol anymore lol. We're now in Yorkshire but I will have a look round and see what we'd like to do first x0 -

I agreed, it will be the last time I fly with Thomas Cook:mad:
(saying that we did get a free upgrade on the way out last time as they couldnt sit us all together:D)
I am not pre booking seats either........it really gets my goat that you pay £100's for a flight then they have the nerve to charge you for sitting together..
Rant overBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

I've just had this conversation about their pre-booking charges, my mum went ahead and spent the guts of £100 to pre-book the seats, I was furious! Plus, we can't even access the online check-in so it won't benefit us as we're still going to have to go up early now. None of us actually mind if we're sitting together - it's just getting there safely that counts! Crazy charges for these sorts of things but they did upgrade our luggage from 15kg to 20kg for free (woop de doo..)0 -
Are there any good deals going on at the moment for Disney orlando? I would love to go anytime after the 9th July. We are 2 adults 2 kids age 11 & 4. preferrably direct flight from one of the London airports. But would consider 1 stop if it works out cheaper.0

Just started looking at flights to orlando for next year (3rd time hopefully:D) But not been getting many results for virgin from glasgow so i phoned up and asked and they said that they will be introducing an increased service from glasgow from next year due to popular demand since introducing the route. Just wondering if anyone else has heard about this or was the person on the phone just trying to get me off quickly?
Will probably end up booking with thomas cook airlines though since theyv always been cheapest for me;)
Edit: Just done some more searches on google and found a newsreport saying they are going to double the number of flights they offer from glasgow in 2011, so shall try searching their website again as i have just established iv been searching 2010 instead of 2011 :$ .Full Time Student
