    Sorry back again
I've booked flights and am onto booking disney hotel now - was originally going to book the Caribbean beach resort with a pirate room - but the coronado springs and port orleans resorts are £300 cheaper - does anybody know much about these hotels and if it's worth me spending the extra money on the caribbean - I know the kids are excited by the pirate room!!

Also wondered if it was worth upgrading to the disney dining plan rather than the counter service - tis £140 so figured if i booked the cheaper hotel and upgraded it's still cheaper.

any help / info would be great! :D

I don't know about either resorts I am afraid sap. Have a look on Disboards, there will be more people over there who know.

As for the meals it depends on what you want to be eating really. If you want Character meals these are easily £40pp and you can use 2 table service meals to 'pay' for a character meal so you'd get 3 character meals instead. So in that respect it would be worth it. IYSWIM.

we are in orlando atm weather cold bring a coat

harry potter literally still being built

loads of roadside motels travel lodge etc 10 mins from disney at $29 per night inc breakfast some look ok some look dodgy but loads to choose from at cheap prices

Apparently one of these cheap hotels was being used as a "meth" factory and it exploded and caused a right hullaballoo in terms of the 192 being closed and loads of police and fire engines. It was near to Celebration where I have a house but I wasn't there at the time. Be selective if you are going to go for one of these!
There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.
  • I don't know if this will help anyone/ anyone has already said about it but I went to Orlando in June and stayed at the Floriday's Resort on International drive. We used the Iride so many times! It's a set of buses which go up and down I drive. It costs $1.25 a time, or I think it was $19 for 14 days unlimited. They start at 8.00am and run to 10.30pm, and call at each stop about every 10/15 mins. They stop at loads of different attractions, hotels and restaurants. Worth looking on the site and seeing if the hotel you're stopping at has a bus stop because it will save you a lot of money if you're not hiring a car. Hope this helps someone.

hi, advice needed please folks. My parents have been to florida a few times now but usually a friend books for them. They want me to book this time & i've never done the whole fly drive thing so I dont know where to start. If i list what they are looking for would that help?

3 adults ( so need 2 separate rooms) happy to stay in private accom rather than hotel. need fly drive from newcastle to Sanford. looking to find somewhere in Kissimee to stay as thats wher they usually go. Only 1 driver needed and looking to go in May or September, flexible on dates too. I can find flights & hotels but not flight & car & not sure where to look for private rentals.

If I can get any help with this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

  • Haven't seen this posted, but thought it may help someone.

The first week in June is 'Gay Day in Disney' week (used to be one day, now a week). Now, I am in now way homophobic, so will get that out of the way first.

This affects park visitor numbers- there will be an estimated 150,000 extra visitors. Each park has a designated 'Gay day' and if you want to avoid very busy days I would suggest you google it and visit an alternative park on a designated day.

    http://www.gaydays.com/Gay-Days-Calendar/

It does alter the atmosphere too. For instance Gay Day at MK is the only time I have ever seen visible security there and there is a Gay Parade down Main Street. I have to say though there is a real 'party atmosphere' that some might want to seek out despite the crowds.

I just think that an informed choice is best!

The problem with gay day is the gay people. I have not a single problem with gay people, i mean i absolutely love gay women (good looking ones anyway) But the problem for me as a father is how extrovert they are at parades like this.

I have been to the Mardi Gras in San Francisco and in London and both times had an absolutely fantastic time - as an adult.
It is most certainly not for children to see greased up blokes wearing suspenders and a wig with their tongue down another blokes throat and the stench of poppers in the air.

  • Hi, I am looking for reassurance. We fly from Manchester via Frankfurt to Orlando at Easter as this was the cheapest flight. Going we have 4 hours at Frankfurt airport but coming home we only have 1 hour between flights. Do you think this is do-able? It is a United / Lufthansa codeshare.
    Thanks
