  • Hi we are stopping off in orlando for 1 or 2 days around 25th March, just wondered if anybody was going in the weeks before that. I thought maybe I could buy any park tickets off you if there are any days left xxx

Sorry if I'm asking some dumb questions but the thread is very, very long to read from start to finish.

Fingers crossed I will be taking my kids (2 adults, 3 children) to Orlando Feb 12 - 22, staying at the Lake buena vista condos.

Transfers are not included, is it worth getting a hire car from the airport or is there a good local transport (I belive there is a bus from the condo to Disney).

I've seen some talk about multi day or park tickets. Am I right in thinking these are different things? The disney ones are multi days, and the park ones are for seaworld, universal?

As we have only 8 days in reality, would people recommend we just do disney & if so, should we get a 7 day ticket, or do a couple of days of disney and a day at seaworld, universal and days off in between?

I've always wanted to see a space rocket take off, is cape canerveral far away and is there a way of finding out when a launch is taking place (again would a hire car be a good idea if this was possible to do?)

    Thanks in advance.

    KC

We saw a rocket go up from Cape Canaveral about 13 years ago. It was in the middle of the night and we got to the closest point possible whichw as still several miles away. All I can say is it's definately recommended, such an experience, but be prepared for an all night trip as the traffic jams are horrendous getting out!

Hopefully it looks like the Harry Potter park will still open up in the Spring, as they are now starting to show adverts on the television in the UK. It has been on for the last to nights and in the advert it states opening Sprin 2010!!!!

Let keep our fingers crossed as we have booked for the end of May 2010

great thread, thanks to everyone who has contributed

I am going for the first time to florida on the 17th september - 1st October

i have just paid for flights, cheapest i could find and flying with virgin total cost included credit card charge £1,418 (is that reasonable?) 2 adults, 7 year old and 1 year old flying economy

have booked a villa which is in a great location for 14 nights at a cost of £750 , very nice villa to

took travel insurance for the family of 4 for £29 , 2 adults, 7 year old and 1 year old

now i need to hire a car, which needs to be picked up from the orlando mco airport and dropped off back there before our flight back home

which is the best site to use and which company , budget keeps popping up when i search

have not sorted any visas out yet or park tickets, still reading to be done

Can absolutely say a big 10/10 to caronthedrive.. superb service, great car and not a bad price. They deliver your car to your villa/hotel.. collect and return you to the airport and I can say after numerous trips all over the US and hiring cars from many different companies that they have been the best I have used.

Don't think you'll be able to do that. I'm pretty sure Disney tickets are linked to fingerprints now.

thanks for that, do you or anyone else know about car insurance over there. All the sites i have looked at seem to offer a car between 250-300 for 2 weeks, i thought that would include insurance etc

but speaking to my dad he reckons i need to buy insurance on top as i would only be covered 3rd party

can anyone shed any light on this please

Depends which site you have looked at... most of the ones listed on here do include cdw etc.. we have used carhire 3000 and the price quoted included everything..

We used caronthedrive in December and again the price Peter quoted included everything insurance wise and also a pre-paid toll pass.

    i found that guide useful

just thought I assume you have not paid for a seat for the one year old... if so have you requested a skycot... they only have limited availability but it will put you in the seats with more legroom
