strange things overheard at the PO

The passport story reminded me that I saw something like that last summer. A person was arguing that the PO were misleading by offering their checking service for passports, she thought that they would check and issue it there and then. When she was told it would arrive in about 3 -4 weeks she was furious, she was going away next day and was obviously being discriminated against and she was going to write to her MP and demand they compensate her for the lost holiday etc.
She made so much fuss and kept saying that she was an intelligent woman and if she had misunderstood what the PO role was then they were obviously wrong in the way they presented their checking service. When she finally gave up and left , after actually spitting at the poor guy behind the counter the crowd broke out in a discreet round of applause.
we have a few serial moaners @ work, the worst of whom is this woman who claims to have trained in accountancy and also as a solicitor.
personally i and others think she is barking.
her last 'evil letter' [she can never be nice] was ended with the linehowever if i was foreign and more than one council house to use as a bomb making factory you would not have !!!!ed up my claim
she got a rather stern letter telling her we will ignore this comment but should she do it again we will take action.
i know its nowt to do with the post office but she is one of those like described on this thread who think they know EVERYTHING yet know sod all and make tits of themselves in the process. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
How about another one I overheard a couple of years ago (I am in the PO an awful lot!).Chap had wanted to cash a giro but had no ID and was refused at counter, as I got to the head of the queue he came back with another guy went back to the SM and said this is my brother he can identify me so can I have my money now please.
I have also seen someone asking about posting live fish...I was served before I heard the outcome of that one.
i believe you can post a live animal provided it has a tag around its neck and the stamp. fish however would be a different matter.
a radio show once got people to send bizarre items in with just a stamp attached, a piece of toast made its way there as did a roll of bog paper.
may well have been capital radio....There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Love this thread! Have seen plenty of barmy people at the post office but no good stories yet. Can't wait til I'm an old lady and I can hold up the queue to buy 1 stamp, yell out my PIN to everyone around and haggle with them over prices!0

Chav: I've come to complain that my hot water's not working.
PO lady: OK love, I think you need a plumber.
Chav: No, it's a council house. I pay my rent here.
PO Lady: For repairs you need to speak to the council then.
Chav: But I've got a baby and we need hot water. Can't you send someone round?
And so it continued. The poor PO lady did everything she could including looking up the phone number for the council, and giving him directions to the housing office. But he still thought it was her responsibility to pop round and fix his heating.
I also heard soemeone asking if she could have a discount on her postage as the letter was only going to somewhere in the same town "Not to John O'Groats" as she put it!Happy New Year :beer:0 -

Stranegly enough I have also heard on more than one occasion people ask if it should be cheaper as the letter is only going local.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No problem someone paid me for it

I must visit this board too much because a scenario of, package not getting a signature, buyer claiming not received and seller out of pocket when PayPal find in the buyers favour and they can't claim from RM either...0
