strange things overheard at the PO

Sorry to resurrect this one but i had another corker today.
Woman at the counter next to me sent a lot of large bulky ebay items, lots of fuss was made, her addresses were wrong then envelopes were open and the lady at the counter was getting really harrassed. Woman then decided to try half a dozen different debit cards to find one that wouldn't be declined to pay for the items. Then she cashed an emergency giro of some sort, more hassle as the PO lady asked for iD and woman was very rude about it and claimed it was racist as she was obviously only asking because she was black (PO staff all non white though).
Then woman pulled out wodges of notes, coin bags and emptied a big envelope full of coins to the counter and wanted to buy a £600 postal order. Lots of mayhem, refused to pay the charges as she said she was being picked on and she knew that a £600 postal order could only cost £600..started yelling and waving arms around threatening to call police etc until senior PO man came out and took over and explained about charges.
He politely asked what she wanted the PO for, and she said for a widescreen TV from ebay . He said maybe sending three uncrossed postal orders to an ebay seller wasn't a good idea and she went off on one again and said she was always on ebay she knew how it worked and this seller couldn't access his paypal account and if she didn't send the pOs today she would lose her bargain. She was actually very rude and basically told the pO man that he was too stupid (she used a racist terms) to understand how it all worked and she knew she was safe with uncrossed POs to a PO box.
So we all stood there thinking, we ought to say something, but to my shame I left them to it counting out the small change.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh this thread is hilarious.:rotfl:
Funniest thing I heard just a couple of weeks ago was a woman buying her car tax and asking it to be "backdated to the 1st July". The counter clerk explained that there was an additional charge if she wanted that (cant remember exactly how much but over £100 I think), She immediately got on the phone to her OH and started a loud coversation saying OMG-there's-a-£100-extra-charge-on-this-what-shall-I-do-I-dont-have-the-money-isnt-it-a-rip-off-thats-outrageous etc etc etc for about 5 minutes. Long story short the counter clerk eventually worked out that she hadnt realised what the date was and thought it was still July even tho it was actually 3rd August and she didint need to backdate at all. It would have been funnier if there hadnt been a queue of about 10 people behind her and the PO was about to close for the day!!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

and you lot wonder why they are grumpy sometimes0

Some of them aren't: a lot are lovely. They show up the others. I've had more nice P.O. staff than nutters/jobsworths: the bad ones are memorable, though.0

If it makes you feel better, that woman more than likely never got her £600 TV.0

We had sort of assumed that was the case.
I did have a bit of a look at ebay and couldn't see any TVs that ended at a straight £600 so maybe the listing was pulled already before she even sent her postal orders.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And he's the laziest most inept counter person to get. I've been known to let people go in front of me even after I've waited 45 minutes just so I can avoid him.
I send approximately 10 -15 parcels a month at the moment, and I always send them First Class Recorded. Without fail, if I get stuck with him, he always moans about how arduous it is and how I should get a franking machine instead of bothering him with this stuff.
And if I don't keep on at him he doesn't validate the addresses and print individual receipts for each parcel so If one goes missing I have to punch all the numbers of all the receipts into the tracker instead of just one.
And he talks to my chestal area and makes me want to go into purdah.
Oh he must be the somehow related to the horrible manager at our Post Office. We're a tiny shop (3 members of staff) but we do sell a lot on eBay. Not having much money we couldn't afford the expenses of a franking machine. Granted we have a LOT of packages each day, but we came to an arrangement with the post office (after months of abuse from their staff and complaints that we sent too much and took up their time!!!) that we would phone them when we were ready to come to send our packages and they would give us a dedicated counter where we can send all our stuff. The manager kept changing "the rules" about when we could come and how much we could send and was just being rude and told us to get a franking machine on several occasions. We usually have an experienced member of staff to do the packages and she is very quick at it. One day he served us and did each label individually it was taking ages, we asked why we couldn't have the normal lady and he said "Oh she's on currency, that actually makes us money unlike you lot!" What a disgusting way to speak to customers! We've given up and applied for a business account now. :j0 -
probably did the deal off ebay for a discount
