strange things overheard at the PO

For days I have wanted to ask if people overhear odd things at the PO, only sometimes my one has a queue so long I get to hear some very odd things.
Today for instance there was a woman with a carrier bag full of small handcrafted jewelery items they were all on card with pretty cellopane on them and an address on a post it note. When she got to counter she explained they all had to go 1st class and that they were all just 30p letters and the addresses were all on the items. Staff member told her that the post it note address would fall off before delivery and she sort of shrugged and said 'd'uh' she wants them put in envelopes please.
Staff member (SM) told her she would need to pack them and address them herself and then return to the counter. She sort of shrugged again and said OK, well give me the envelopes then..the argument about whether or not the POst Office should supply free envelopes went on for ages and ended with her threatening to go to the police as she knew her rights and what kind of xx post office was it that didn't supply packing materials. I think the SM was winding her up as as she gathered all her stuff together he added that a 30p stanp would not be sufficient and her parting shot was 'well I'm going to post them anyway and you can't stop me so there!'
Can I suggest that if you have bought any hand crafted jewellery from ebay or any other site from a new seller recently..that you panic!

Have heard a few crackers in my PO had to step in one time when the convo turned to my father and some nasty things were said that were complete lies. Her face was a peach when she said it was none of my F in business and she knew her info was fact as it came from a reliable sorce so i said considering he's my father i think my info is more reliable she had to conced lolslowly going nuts at the world:T0

Nothing so amazing here, I think i would have had to leave your PO for fear of cracking up laughing in front of jewellery woman. Yesterday, having been served and turning to leave, I noted one man waiting behind, an old lady came in asked said man if he was waiting to which he replied yes. So she went to the counter forthwith to be served, as the man stood there slack jawed.0

Jewellery you say? That's classed as a valuable. It'll have to go using Special Delivery I'm afraid; prices start from £4.95 per item ... but we'll give you a free mailing bag

I've mentioned this one before but I think it worth another mention. Lady had made a very fancy iced novelty cake and had it in one of those flimsy cardboard cake boxes. When it was her turn she carefully put it on the scales and asked for a label so that she could write it had to stay that way up and mustn't be tilted at all. The lid wasn't even sellotaped on. The SM explained that it wasn't secure enough for the post, but lady said that if the SM could hand it to the postman specially she was sure he would look after it. SM had to then explain that the box would go to a sorting office in a bag and then be sorted by machine and then onto another van and only then get to postman.
Lady thought about it and said, but how can I guarantee that cake doesn't get spolit then?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well it sure as heck wasn't any of my jewellery, mine always goes in proper packing, proper labelling and then weighed before paying for, what a muppet!0

The amount of times we have to ask customers to pay for envelopes does not bear mentioning - I work in Martin's with a PO attached. Today I saw someone struggling to fix something onto an envelope and went over to help - he could not understand why the gum on the back of the airmail sticker did not work when he licked it. I pealed the sticker partly off the backing paper and handed it to him. The shade of red he turned went rather well with the blue of the sticker .........What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
