Did anyone else, on this message board, suffer discomfort or a pain in the region of the back or spine whilst lifting the adapter from the packaging? Rather heavy me thinks ???0

i have this router and its been great only problem i have had is that when i upgraded the firmware, the router was more sensitve to wireless interferance and was also locking up alot. it required a diconnect of the plug to restart it. i dont think everyone has this problem but if it does happen then your stuffed. nothing can be done even a replacment from netgear wont help unless its new or used but the old user hasent touched the firmware. im on my 3rd one becuase i updated the firmware so i suggest not to touch it.0

hey guys,
i grabbed my netgear yesterday morning and they were going real fast down the TCR branch.
thing is, i have it set to my laptop but a have acouple of questions if you guys can help me out...
1. its set to an open access right now so any tom, !!!!!! can have access to the connection...how do i protect against that?
2. my wireless laptop card is only giving me a max speed of 11Mbps...i can't find the specs of the speed of the adaptor...is there a way of finding out?
all i have is this: LAN-Express IEEE 802.11 PCI Adapter
and the laptop is an Acer travelmate 254lmi
thanks guys!0 -
1. You can set up WEP and WPA etc, providing your cards are capable. You can also set a permitted access list for specific PCs and MAC addresses. Not as secure, but a start (I think...)
2. I guess your laptop card is only 11MB/S, as we've got the netgear singeing along at a minimum of 40 and nearer 50 on the PC next to itBritish Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

New ones have V1.05 firmware installed. That's the current version on the website.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Has anyone managed to buy online?
The first time i tried about 12.00, i got this
'SORRY
Due to high demand the following item(s) are currently unavailable '
I refreshed about 15 mins later and it then let me order it, add to basket, enter disocount code and checkout. After entering CC details and clicking the final confirm, it then took me back to the 'SORRY....' message!
Now it is saying this constantly, anyone had any luck?Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.0
