It's showing as out of stock on the website. Anyone know if these will be available instore and when they open for the sale?0
-
Grrrr, did anyone manage to get one of these? Says temporarily out of stock, does this mean it is likely to come back on, or is that wishful thinking ???0
-
Cor - they went quick!
I suggest you either look out for these instore on 27th, or watch out on Ebay for whoever cleaned PCW out already. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
I think they may have been the grey silver version 1 ones that PC world were trying to get rid off as now there is a white version 2. Unless they have not updated the picture?0

I have one of this and it's crap! Two my colegues got same ones and had problems. My friend has computer business and he said that they had lots of them returned or lots of problems to support.
Go for new model as it promiced it should be better. Or ever different brand. This is only regards 54Mb ADSL modem+router+firewall.
I realy hope that people who ordered will not have any problems!
Merry Xmas!!!Have you got something to share - Do it.

I can second that. Its truly is terrible. Expect RMA's.
Some poor suckers will buy it without reading up on it first.0 -
This is the only one I use for myself and my customers. Yet to see a single glitch! Highly recommend Netgear products.
I used to use U.S.Robotics. They are nothing but headache.

This unit is a superb router. I say that quite simply as it's one of the easiest routers to use and supports products like video conferencing with little user effort.
There have been a number of batches of netgear products in the past that suffered from issues requiring an RMA, however those times are gone for the most part.
The firmware upgrade is very much required, as it is with most routers, and is a simply case of downloading a file and sending it to the router the the browser admin console. It's as easy as 1..2..3.
I recommend this kit on a regular basis to businesses wanting a solid platform on which to run their internet access.
Error reporting and the security features are on a par with Cisco and 3Com kit costing near a grand, which they're worth by the way.
Here's a great example. If someone's scanning your internet connection to find a way in, the router will stop all comms with them for a few minutes after only 10 ports being scanned. This has stopped so many port-scanners dead in their tracks and has meant far more secure connections that rules alone will ever provide. This same functionality is simply not present on many other pieces of kit.
It's a shame to see that people have had a bad time with Netgear, they come from a solid stable (Bay Networks) and really are well made bits of kit. Admittedly I wish they still had the same build quality that they had in the old metal blue-box days (Those in the know will know what I mean).
If anyone buys one of these and has any issue feel free to contact me privately for a little help as I'm only too pleased to get you going, call it a virtual yuletide prezzie.
Dre... and that's all I have to say about that.0
