So 90% of IB or ESA claimants are well enough to work? Seriously? "The DWP are usually right" you are surely joking. It is cheaper for the government to have 90% of claimants receiving JSA, rather than IB or ESA.

Do you really, honestly believe that the 90% who fail the ESA medicals are fit enough to work?

ESA, up until a while ago your replies were unbiased and very helpful, and you seemed like someone who actually cared. Now you come over as a completely biased person who believes everything he is told at work! You need to get a grip mate.
I believe that the vast majority of people who are failing the medicals are able to do some sort of work. I certainly dont think it is acceptable for so many people to stay on benefits for what are fairly innocuous illnesses (I dont include Mental Illness in that).

What exactly do you think I am told at work?

I search out information from multiple sources - we dont have indoctrination sessions at work - which seems to be what you are suggesting?

BTW, my 'advice' is still impartial - my 'opinions' are my own judgement.

Well, maybe you should make clear what's advice and what's opinions? I know a few people have been upset by your attitude, taking it to be an official stance. Maybe have a sig that explains the situation clearly?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I think it should be clear what constitutes advice ie. 'You need to do this and this to be entitled to that' whereas opinion is 'I think it is totally wrong that people are entitled to benefit for a condition such as the common cold'.

If people cannot discern between the two then educational standards must be at an all time low.

My advice and opinions are in a personal capacity and absolutely nothing to do with my job. I am not contracted to come on here by an employer so why would anybody in their right mind, unless it suits their agenda, think that I am here in any other capacity?

Hmm, are tribunals incapable of getting things wrong?

If not then surely they can get it wrong in both directions.

We hear about a handful of cases where things go wrong - we also hear cases where things have gone swimmingly for the claimant involved. Those cases point to something being terribly right.

How can they be entitled if they have failed the medical?

The small amount that are actually sick and appeal will hopefully be successful - the rest arent really sick. Like I said - the good thing is these medicals are objective.:T:j

Your talking about one situation - I am talking about in general - most decisions are the right decisions and are upheld by the Tribunal.

A small amount of people have been assessed wrongly and win on appeal.

The rest are not legally entitled to sickness benefit and should go back to work or claim JSA if they want state money.

all ofthese post here are post in which it is not clear if it is your opinion or fact , and as you work for the esa and have a user name that makes it clear to some it would assume you know what your talking about and thefore should be beleived
. Like I said - the good thing is these medicals are objective.:T:j

is this statement of fact or statement of opinion because if it is statement of fact the the whole systm is deluded - you only have to look at the number of people being told they are no longer entitled to see this test is not objective
if however it is a statement of opioion then that makes it something completly different

They are ALL clearly opinion. And, as I said, I am only here in a personal capacity. No-one should treat ANY advice given on this site as they would if it was given by a benefit expert or independent advisor.

My username relates to the European Space Agency.

'Please note: Legislation is constantly changing. Though some contributors have checked current law, some are guessing and you are advised to check with an agency such as a Citizens Advice Bureau and not take things written here as fact. Even things that have been checked one day might not be correct on the next.'

ok im sorry i seem to have mistook your username for a system with the same name that you apprently are involved in at some point

if its all your opinions then fair enough your entitled to them but perhpas you should make it clear

if i had a user name mse martin for example and i started posting opinions/offered advice etc then it would lead people to believe what i have to say more than if i had the username compulsive liar .

Please read what I edited in above as well as the board guide explicitly states that people should go to CAB etc. to get concrete advice/expert opinion.

I'm not going to use any more of my own time endlessly adding in whether what I write is advice or opinion. I am here on my own time. I'm never on during work time. Its ALWAYS my opinion or my advice and not the advice of an employee.

I'll maybe get my username changed to NASA:think:

    /QUOTE]

Now im really confused, not long ago, in a thread about people being kicked of the sick http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1815797&highlight=

    you wrote
Stories like this are part of the reason I joined ESA.

Too many 'sick' people never working again. I've been sick most my life and never stopped. Get on with it!!!

And you also admit you process benefits?

I dont understand why stories about people being sick / never working again etc would be in any way related to the European Space Agency.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
    [/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

    Why exactly are you confused?

Yes, I work in benefits, I also hold an avid interest in Space Exploration. Google ESA and you will find a multitude of links for organisations that use the abbreviation ESA. Kind of presumptious to think that its related to any employment I am engaged in dontcha think?

I've requested a name change though so that anyone out there who has been or would be confused in the future no longer need be. Whether the request is accepted is up to the forum owners/administrators.

Im confused as your username is ESA (fair enough you asked for a change now) and you stated you *joined* ESA due to stories about people on the sick etc.

Which ESA did you join due to people on the sick? Was it ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) or ESA (European Space Agency)?
