Just in case anyone thought my other post was a little negative, I'd just like to add that becoming a Granny was, quite simply, (And after the initial shock!) one of the best things that happened to me- up there with life's other high spots. You can tell by my username just what an important part of defining me my grandchildren are!
My Grandchildren are a source of great joy to me. I never realised I could feel that passionately about a baby that wasn't mine.
I'm so glad that you obviously have such a close relationship with your son- it's a great foundation for a similarly close one with your new Grandchild.
