thanks alot for the links.ive already been through those and theres nothing really that helps get rid of the admin password thing.
it just keeps asking for the administrator password which there isnt and im looking for a way to get in the laptop ?:(
i know someone will come up with a way but i need to log in it now to see how it works if its not good i can send it back .and get sister a difrent one.

This might work.
How to remove the power-on password
To remove a POP that you have forgotten, do the
following:
(A) If no SVP has been set:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack.
For how to remove the battery pack, see “1010 Battery
pack” on page 60.
3. Remove the backup battery.
For how to remove the backup battery, see “1020
Backup battery” on page 61.
4. Turn on the computer and wait until the POST ends.
After the POST ends, the password prompt does not
appear. The POP has been removed.
5. Reinstall the backup battery and the battery pack.0 -

thanks hun ive done that too. didnt work
i removed the battery , then the battery back up (small yellow thing) put the big battery bak in and turned it on ,,adjusted the date ect , turned off put the yellow battrey in it turned on n bummer still asking for admin password0 -
is there anyway i can do a system restore on it if i take the hard drive out and connect it to another laptop ?
does anyone know how to do that ?

i dont have a cd to reinstall it.if i get hold os a windows Xp cd how do i download that ?
cos when i turn it on it asks for administrator password? how can i get cd to load?
