Lily glad you're feeling a bit more positive, been thinking of you x

I'm also glad ttc shared her treatment method, I didn't think that was an option ans thought the next step after Clomid would be iui. Ttc if you're still around can I ask how many times you've tried this? I remember one previous cycle, is this your second? X x

My egg level AHM (!?) was 11 so not good. No other reason or problems. Googling clomid is making me scared I'm not being monitored. Some nasty stories about :(

If you are only on 50mg I wouldn't worry. Step away from Dr Google. If you were taking 150mg straight off I would be concerned to but 50mg is a low dose and is pretty entry level. Just be aware of your body this cycle and if you get any pain on either side maybe go down to a drop in centre. I've tried to pay attention to my body a bit more whilst on clomid.

I have no idea what my AHM level is. Nobody has ever checked, though because of my age and history I imagine they have just assumed it's fine. Whats the saying, assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups? :o

Thanks TeamLowe - I am glad I've stayed away though, it has helped me focus on other things.
I think the next step for us will be IVF which is very very daunting. I am going to try and find out about injectables though as they seem to work for some people when clomid alone has failed.

Ad 1DPO I think I should have more PMA than this. :o:o

Well only just had time to properly catch up. I'm so sorry mrs h. That must hurt like hell. Big hugs to you and take good care if yourself xxx

Ttc40 remind me - you were on clomid? Is that right.

I was prescribed clomid today. I could choose 4-6 months. Went for four after he scared me about ovarian cancer. Didn't like doc in general he seemed to rush us and when I asked about clomid affecting cbfm he said of "course it wouldn't"

Also I wasn't offered a scan or anything. Is this normal? They won't be monitoring me at all.

    Hi, still lurking.

I was on 50mg of Clomid. I don't have any other issues such as PCOS & I had regular periods.

The FS suggessted trying a couple of unmonitored cycles & then go for the scan. After the first unsuccessful one I thought that for the sake of £200 it was worth extra help to make the most of each opportunity.

    Cycle 2
I had a scan on CD11 & based on the size of the follicles, went back on CD13 for a trigger injection. FS said that ov would be 38 hours later so we needed to 'be active' 36 hours later to give the swimmers time. We were!

    Cycle 3
I had a scan on CD11, think there was only one decent folicle & maybe another small one. I was given a (I think) gonal f injection to encourage growth. He took bloods & I went back for a trigger. He was happy with the blood results - nothing of concern. Again we were active at the prescribed time.

    Cycle 4
I had a scan on CD12, injection was CD13. There were a couple of good looking follicles & a couple of smaller. We BD'd on CD13 & twice on CD14 (morning & night) ov was at night.

I was already seeing the FS for the Clomid - due to my age I don't get anything from NHS. I'm not sure if it's possible/ same price if you just want the scan/ trigger. Not sure if the trigger would be done without medical history. I have no knowledge of this.

It def helped us in terms of knowing when to BD - I appreciate I'm saying this after a BFP. When we started TTC, we went from being a once a week couple to at least once a day for a week & then never again for a month.

As I learnt more (on this forum), we did reduce this to perhaps a focus on 4 days.

As OH & I work away/ are apart regularly it was a nightmare to plan, wondering if one of us was doing a 4 hour round trip for a s!!g was even being done at the right time. However 'timed' bding is a lot of pressure. Cycle 4 required it late at night. OH couldn't complete & I felt tearful. In the event we (well he) had a sleep for 30 minutes & then all was OK again. The things you do eh?

The FS said to do 4 cycles, however I did actually have enough for 6 cycles as when I picked up the private prescription (only about £25), the pharmacist said the cost was for the box regardless of whether I wanted them all or not. Er, I'll take the lot then!

The FS said that OPKs are less reliable when on Clomid. He said just be active on days 12-14 as that's when the egg will be released.

Hope this helps - sorry if it's more detail than anyone needed.

I'm carrying on supporting the FS pension fund as I'm seeing him for a scan next week (5-6 weeks pg). He told me that if I got pg soon after the lap then an early scan would be beneficial as there's a higher risk of eptopic. It's not soon after (it was last May), but I thought I would get this checked anyway.

I may also (if everything progresses), go at about week 9 as it's around then they could tell if it's one or two. There's a higher chance of twins when on Clomid.

Lilymay the nhs does not do the amh test, it's mildly controversial as they're not convinced that low amh= low ovarian reserve and its not useful for pcos as amh will always be high for that.

Or so I read somewhere and can't remember where now lol x

  • TL & Lilymay Just to confuse matters I've had my AMH done on the NHS by my FS.... I think it's pretty hit and miss as to where you go and what your FS thinks of each test... Won't know til May if the eggs are carp though... :)

Is amh usually age related testing?

Don't know. My consultant gynaecologist who we did IUI with didn't test my AMH levels, but the fertility clinic I then went to for IVF did. It was pretty irrelevant really. My AMH is fine but my egg quality isn't enough to sustain a pregnancy, so knowing my AMH levels didn't help really.

I guess like most things, it's just one factor.

It declines with age I think (like most fertility related things) but a 45 year old could have perfectly good levels while a 20 year old be very low.
