I had my first FS appointment this morning. It's a good job I checked the paperwork; I nearly went to the wrong hospital!

In the opening questions the doctor asked if we were using contraception which made me question if he knew why I was there. Later he asked if I was seeing another specialist. I'm now wondering if I've been sent to the wrong person. So I mentioned my endo and he said he would also look into that as well as the hormone levels.

It looks like I have to have another laparoscopy. It seems 6/7 years since the last one is too long. But first I have to have CD3, CD21, rubella and chlamydia blood tests. For some reason I have to wait 2 cycles until my next FS appointment; which will be at the end of April.

Mr P did not need to be there. I made him write down his info: height, weight, medical history; but the doc did not ask for it.

Lilymay, the end of NHS help must have been a shock for you. Don't let it affect your stress levels. Here's a dodgy hug for you as well. :grouphug:

well not great news my wee folli grew by a whole 0.1 of a mm we are now up fro 1.3cm to 1.4 that is after 6 gonal f 75 shots
we had another shot today and to get rescanned tomoz
i am thinkin an abandoned cycle this month as they wont do anything until 1.8cm
plus i am on cd 14 and could ov at any time
they did say however that my lining was very thick which is apparently a good thing???

Lily - Sorry that you are not getting any further help. It's just a lottery that means that so many reasons mean we can't even buy a ticket - age, weight, children already etc.

VK - Sorry it hasn't grown. My FS measured the thickness of the lining when I had scans & said that a thick lining was important. I assume this gives us the periods from hell though!

AFM, AF hasn't appeared yet. I ov'd 14 days ago from tonight so could be any moment!

hmm i have a strange question obv if doing iui you are advised if male to not ejactulate for 3-5 days so that a good sample is provided
but my question is what happens if you have sex but dont get ejaculate
will this affect the count
and what about if a guy gets a hard on through natural day to day things or by self arousal
i know this sound really strange but dunno who else to ask?

TTC40 If you don't mind me asking- what scan did they do to assess the quality of your lining? I'm worried that my lining is rubbish as my AFs are quite light having changed significantly over the last year (TMI:- AF appears older rather than 'fresh' iyswim)

The FS measured the lining when doing the internal scan on CD11 to check the size/ quantity of follicles.

Compared to what others have said, I don't think mine are exceptionally heavy - but very painful since coming off the pill.

tea cake they checked my lining just on routine internal scan think they do it as procedure when checking follies but dont always menion it

We weren't advised to abstain before IUI. The opposite in fact. We were told that the chances of success were higher if we had natural intercourse before and after the IUI.

Who has advised you to abstain for 3-5 days? Optimum sperm count is usually after abstention for a maximum of 2-3 days. After this point, motility falls off and morphology rises. The best sperm for IUI is fresh sperm which has been in the tubes for only a day or two, according to my FS anyway.

Feeling down in the dumps tonight.:( Feel like I'm getting left behind by everyone around me, who are getting on with their lives/families/relationships/careers. Really feeling I'm useless (at this in particular) and nothing I try/do/change has any affect and it's all just pointless and inconsequential

I'm mostly lurking for the same reasons as lily may. We haven't had a bfp for ages on this board.

Think ill be getting clomid on fri. Got AF headache. Not in the best of moods.
