Hi guys well went for scan today and it appears iv ov'd since yesterday
I woke up at 4 with horrendous pain in my left side and nurse said to Ne have I had pain I said yes so it would appear it was ovulation pain
So thankfully hubby was available to bd this afternoon
So that will b us joining the 2ww now
    Oh well fingers crossed

Nicki our fs told us not to bd as they want semen 3-5 days old to b inseminated as they claim its at its best
The issue though with us is that we do t know when follicle will b big enough so it's trying to time it for when we have iui
We were told once procedure takes place then it's gd to do it again that night to give more of a chance

Has anyone else noticed ovulation gets much more painful when on fertility treatment

    Hello all,

I've been swithering about whether or not to post anything but here goes...

Me and DH have been TTC for just over 4 years, and were due to start ICSI soon - but i'm pregnant at last!!!!!!:j:j:j:j

DH has low motility, i can't remember how low exactly, but one SA came back as just below normal and the next horrifically low. After years of waiting on ICSI treatment and bedding every one/two days (because this helps the sperms recover?) i grew sick of the same old approach.

I put DH on a walnut diet, eating 75g a day due to some research which was published about the postive effects of this on motility. Advice is to get SA after 3 months - we didn't get this, but in month 4th i concieved. Also purchased a clearblue fertility monitor (used for one cycle before pregnancy) instead of ovulation sticks and decided to bombard the egg with numbers rather than bd'ing every two days.

I know we have been incredibly lucky to get a positive so quickly after the change of "regime", but i really think if ayone out there has a similar fertility issue, they should give this a go.

Just been for my first scan today and i'm finally starting to believe this is really happening to us.

Wishing everyone out there who is still trying all the luck, i'm sure there will be more success stories soon xxx

Congratulations sugardonut, any chance you have a link to walnut research? May try to persuade dh if it helps with morphology as well..

Glad to hear your first scan went well, hope you have the best pregnancy ever from here on out :) x x

    Hi

    It works for morophology too!!

    Some links are:

    http://www.webmd.com/infertility-and-reproduction/news/20120815/walnuts-may-improve-sperm-quality-healthy-men

    http://www.medicaldaily.com/articles/11527/20120815/walnuts-sperm-fertility-pregnancy.htm

There was a seperate study report - which i can't seem to find now, but it was specifically with couples with fertility issues, and the walnut group had a baby boom despite them all having tried unsuccessfully for years before hand.

Like us, success was shortly after they had ate them for 3 months - maybe a couple of months extra?

    Good luck!!
  • Hello hello hello!

Sorry for gloom Lilymay and BZ.

It does feel like life is in limbo, doesn't it?

I'm finding couselling is really helping me move on.

Losing weight is also a literal and metaphorical load off my mind at the minute - 19 pounds in 6 weeks thanks to the good Dr Dukan!

Who knows, maybe it'll help my fertility. It can't exactly hurt it, since it's already in the toilet.

    AF is due Saturday...

Good luck everyone in the 2ww, hoping perseverance pays off where all else has failed..

It's on the news this morning that IVF on the NHS will be offered to women over 39, or rather the NICE guidelines have been changed to recommend this.

It's still a postcode lottery - my PCT didn't offer it if you were over 35 :(

Also mentions clomid shouldn't be offered to people with unexplained fertility. As this is me, and I'm expecting blinis to be offered on fri, I'm a bit worried. Any advice ladies?
  • Well I would like bellinis to be offered! But that's supposed to be clomid. Damn phone!

It's because of over-stimulating which can happen whether your fertility is explained or not. I guess the point is that, because fertility drugs can cause OHSS, then there's no point in prescribing them willy-nilly if there's no evidence that they'll work (which might be the case if, for example, you have undiagnosed blocked tubes).

I'm assuming your fertility specialist will have closely reviewed your case and decided that clomid is suitable for you. TBH, I didn't know clomid caused OHSS - I thought that was more of a risk with things like Gonal-F.

It's all a bit chicken and egg really. In many cases, IVF is both treatment and diagnosis. You don't actually know why someone is infertile until you start the treatment cycle and see what happens. That's certainly what happened in my case. My problem is very poor quality eggs (not the number, the quality). You'd never know this until you've done a round of IVF and seen what the resultant embryos look like.
