  • Thanks TTC40. A girl in work had one when she was undergoing investigations (male factor infertility in the end) and she said it was pretty uncomfortable. In my head I've escalated that to 'THE WORST PAIN EVER!' lol...

Am trying to reassure myself that it'll be worth it though as she has just gone on mat leave so no matter what your diagnosis (they were told IVF was the only hope) they can always be wrong! :)

Becca, you might wanna take a list of your cycles and prepare yourself for the idea that you might have an internal examination and some swabs. Take a list of any questions you have too.

Tacod, I prepared myself for the hsg to be painful, took ibuprofen 30 mins before the appt, but it really wasn't. The most painful bit was when I sneezed/laughed with the speculum + balloon/catheter still in :p and the iv injection they gave me (an anti spasmodic to see if my tubes were in spasm and that was why the dye wasn't going through), oh and my hips started aching after a while, being held in that position too long. But, again, that was because I had a blockage and they were spending time double checking. I worked myself up a little about it beforehand, but I too would have no qualms about having another done.

Tealover, hoping tomorrow is a better, more positive day for you :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I knew you ladies would be a wealth of info. Thanks. I have my list of cycles ready. As for metformin, my bmi is 19 so if that's the case might not work for me? Will see what he says. Not long to wait now, fed up of this cycle (cd75!!!)

Ooooo Mrs H how exciting...is it all a little bit surreal?

Teacake: My HSG was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, but my top tip is to definitely take your own sanitary towel...the ones the give you are not nice!

Becca: That's a really quick appointment-well done. I remember being a bit disappointed after my first one because my expectations were that everything would happen, but it was really more checking of backgrounds/tests etc. I think they gave me Clomid straight away though.

Tealover: I'm having a bit of a down day today too...it's so easy to feel nothing's working. I'm cursing myself because I thought my Montgomery's tubercles were red and enlarged which was my first symptom last time...of course they weren't, and the thought of being pregnant three weeks after a miscarriage is just blinking rediculous. Unless QQ fancies doing it, I shall wag a finger at myself! And kick myself up the bum while I'm at it too.

    Hugs to everyone.

Hugs Derby. Have a little wagging finger :naughty:, and a big dodgy hug :grouphug: x.

Am shattered today. Keep having freaky dreams and so never feel like I've had any proper sleep. Weird dreams are not at all unusual for me, but it does seem to have ramped up a bit in the last week or so. Another thing I shall be blaming on buserelin... along with climate change and world poverty.

Tealover: I'm one for random dreams too. Last night I dreamt that my mum had given me a Christmas present but she opened it herself and I threw a massive strop! I blame your buserelin as well.

Does anyone have any tips on how to not constantly think about TTC and everything that's going on? It's really not heathy and I don't seem to be able to stop over-analysing at the moment.

I have absolutely no advice whatsoever. TTC is at the back of my mind at all times. We will soon hit the 3yr mark and I feel the longer it takes the more is in my mind.
As for dreams, I have had some awful nightmares and very unrestful sleep, tossing and turning, I blame it on clomid, only 3 more nights to go. I'm desperate for a good sleep!

No tips Derby, but I do think we all have to find a way. I think you ending up wishing your life away, and the truth is TTC isn't actually all there is. It just feels like it...

(Says she.... who delayed cancer treatment to preserve a chance to TTC in the future!)

MrsH, I'm really excited for you! Fingers crossed. Let me know if I can help with any questions - as I only finished my ICSI a few weeks ago now!

I'm home safe now. Got my stupid AF while in hospital, while immobile and with a catheter in! Thankfully the nurses were all well used to it and lovely. The cramps were horrible with my stomach scars and soreness at the same time. Hard to identify what was surgery pain, and what was cramp etc... at least I had some good painkillers!

Now home on my sofa, after working hard today to get pain under control as I couldn't face another night in hospital. They constantly check on you, I must have had about 15 knocks on the door... between pressure checks, catheter stuff, IV antibiotics... and random beeps from machines! But, fantastic care, and step 1 is now done.

My first ever major operation, done and dusted!

T2D - rest and follow doctors orders!

    Glad you are home.

AFM - OH had a problem with BDing last night. I think the pressure of a time to do it was too much! We managed it about an hour later- so who knows!
