Becca have they tried you on metformin yet? They seem (from anecdotal evidence) to prefer trying that before Clomid for pcos ladies with dodgy cycles. If they do let us know and we'll give you our tips for getting used to it lol x x

Thanks TL. TBH I just want to try something!
I'm on CD74, will they give me something to bring on CD1 or will they just leave me until it happens?

They seem happy enough to give norithisterone to being on a bleed, in fact if I was told that if a higher dose of metformin didn't bring my cycle back then they'd give me an artificial cycle with that and Clomid.

When I first got metformin it gave me a wonderfully regular 35 day cycle, I hope it'll help you too :) xx

Perfect I can't wait! I'm trying to keep my hopes down but I just need a plan now.

Metformin sounds the way to go! Thanks for the advice x

 QQ-lovely to see you, I think about you a lot (in a nice caring way-not a psycho stalker way of course :))

Yay for a quick appointment becca

Well, I was on my way home to update you all and ask advice on how my scan this morning went when the nurse phoned and I had to go back in so I'm not long home now-a very strange day indeed. I'm on day 8 of Gonal f, so went along for scan thinking I would be back every couple of days until collection next week sometime. Today in my right ovary I had 3 x 10 mm (it is mm isn't it?) and 1 x 14 mm follicle, in my left I had 2 x 10 and 2 x 19-I've had a lot of discomfort in my left side for the last couple of days, so they had to decide whether I was to continue on the gonal f or go in for collection. Went back tonight and was scanned again-one had gone up to 25 from 19 during the day:eek: Anyway, the outcome is that I have collection on Wednesday with a view to transfer on Friday or Saturday  Am now frantically trying to get a hold of my acupuncturist and reorganising my week at work, I'm very excited, but a bit freaked out by it all happening now

Exciting times mrsh!! Will be thinking of you x.

Feeling a bit low tonight. Have convinced myself I'm not responding to the drugs as Clomid & metformin didn't work. Plus, another day, another fb pg announcement. Feel a bit sorry for myself :(
  • Hello QQ, hope you are doing OK. Thanks for the info (as always) xxx
  • Hugs to all who need them. Fingers crossed this is our year ladies.

TTC40- if you don't mind me asking how was the HSG- I'm waiting for AF to book mine (I was told it had to be done before day 20 but that's NHS and have to use protection for that cycle). Worried it's going to be painful!

Becca- I think you may have mentioned on the other TTC thread that you didn't have much/ any weight to lose. If that's the case they may not consider you for metformin as I was told by FS that it's only indicated as having significant results if your BMI is over 30. Mine is 27ish and they won't give me it to regulate my cycles. Just thought you might want to research if you're suitable for it. :)

My bmi is about 22 & metformin's done nothing for me (apart from trap me in the bathroom for weeks!). It does seem to do more if your bmi is higher to start with.

The HSG was OK. Personally I found it no more uncomfortable than a smear. I took a couple of painkillers 30 mins before.

I left work, went & had it done & then back to work. You need to take a sanitary pad as the are putting clear liquid in you. What goes up , must come down! Not a massive amount, just need protection.

Clearly it wasn't the best experience, but if I knew I had to have another one I wouldn't fear it in any way.
