I definitely don't wish I'd never asked, tea, it's exactly what I wanted to know :) Did he respond at all when you brought it up? When do you see the FS?

miss hh - best of luck for your treatment. Hope you get a stonking big BFP, and no side effects at all xx.

BZ - his initial reaction was 'absolutely no way' - as expected. But now he's having a think about it. That tends to be his way - he'll initially be convinced he thinks one thing, then he thinks about it for a while and is a bit more reasonable. What I've (eventually!) learnt to do is leave him to it during the thinking phase. If I try and raise the subject again now he'll get annoyed, so I'll leave it a few weeks for him to process in his own way and then we'll talk again.

Our next appt is 28th nov so we've got some time to think and talk things through. Which is why I raised it now as I don't want the first time he even considers it to be during the appt.

It may well be that we decide it's not for us, which is fine. But what I don't want to do is rule something out from a knee-jerk reaction.

How's things with you both? When does your DH start his new job? You must be really proud of him :)

Misshh: what they said! ^^ :D

Tea: sounds reasonable to me, men (humans?) can be like that. Actually, my MIL was like that too :p

Dh is doing training right now for a development opportunity he was also offered a week before the new job - thankfully it also ties in with the new job, so he's doing some of the training before starting the job properly. I am proud of him, very much so. I don't know how he manages to just keep functioning sometimes, never mind excels! :A

I'm ok, but frustrated. I have anxiety issues about holes that originally went all the way through to the organs within, so I'm trying to keep a lid on that, let them heal, look after them without puking, etc :embarasse

I'm also trying to consider the courses of action the FS may suggest next week so see how I feel about them... I think there are 2 possibles: 1.we are given clomid for 6 months in the hope that an egg is miraculously transported down the not-right tubes; 2.we go straight for IVF.
With option one at least I might feel like we're doing something while losing the last bit of weight. However, it will also increase the time before we get to IVF - I can't start clomid til cd1, so November to end of April (assuming 6 cycles =6 months, which I know it doesn't always), then wait for another appointment with FS, then 18wk referral to Assisted Conception, which means you're looking at nearly a year from now to even have the consultation. That seems like a long drawn out process
Option 2 would be more likely to take maybe 3 months to reach the right weight (assuming they want 29bmi and not 30bmi, which they're not clear on) then the waiting list time - which takes us to more like May.
But would I regret not at least trying clomid? Would the clomid help with keeping more regular cycles while waiting for ivf? Especially as we want to do natural/mild protocol ivf.

At the moment I'm leaning towards discussing the possibility of trying clomid, but for the length of time I think it will take to lose the weight - 3 months ish, and then I know we've tried it, but it won't just push IVF back... I don't know if it's possible in NHS land, but I can ask, right? :o

BZ - what you suggest seems sensible approach and can't see why you can't be prescribed clomid and start referral process for ivf. I was getting fed up waiting for my hsg as it kept getting put back and so fs agreed to refer me to ivf clinic whilst waiting for hsg test and had open evening and initial appointment at clinic before hsg test was done.

I don't see why either, Primmer, other than it's the NHS! :)

    Hi ladies,

I know a few of you from the main thread, but I think I have to bite the bullet and move across to this +12m one!

As a bit of background, we have been trying for over 2 years now, although with slightly different approaches as things have gone on. Spent about 1 year NTNP, but towards the end actively avoiding getting pregnant due to a job change. I even went on the pill for a month, which was simply stupid in hindsight! I was worried about missing my enhanced maternity leave if I was pregnant when I started the new job... chance would be a nice thing as it turns out!

Then from Dec last year I have been using OPKs etc, and found that I ovulated earlier than I thought - so perhaps we hadn't been DTD at the right time. Anyway, 1 year on, and I know we have had lots of well time BD's and still no sign of anything wrong. Hormones are normal etc.

So, we are now at the FS stage. Went (privately) last week, and first indications are nothing is wrong. DH has gone for an SA last week, and we will get the results in 10 days or so. If that is fine then they will look to do a HyCoSy, or look at other options. I get a feeling that the FS would like to try a few less invasive things like Clomid to try and have a stronger OV (I really thought it just happened or it didn't) before we will look at IUI or IVF.

I've been really up and down all year - some of you will have seen me on the other thread - but I feel a bit better and calmer now. And oddly less impatient, I think now I know it's not going to be quick, I'm a little calmer. Although - the glass of red beside me may also be helping.

Anyway - hello to everyone! As a first thing, can anyway tell me if there are any options with a low SA result. Is it possible to 'extract' the little swimmers surgically? Silly question I am sure, but I'm new to this next medicalised step of ttc.

    :)

Oh - I should add I am 36, ttc first child. BMI 32-33ish, so too fat for NHS... although private FS didn't seem to worry about it. But then - I was paying quite a lot for her to be nice to me!
