I lurk mostly too - nothing changes here, so it hardly seems worth posting that!! ;) I do love hearing people's news though - congratulations SS!!

DH was away (I think) around ovulation (I missed a couple of temps around the crucial time, and I no longer bother with OPKs) so no chance this month. I'm cd27, so AF due within the next day or two. Am not SS'ing as there's no point! We're waiting to see if DH gets his bonus to see if we can afford an IVF cycle, but actually I'm feeling more accepting of our situation in any case. Although I'll always be sad that we won't have any more children, we are so very grateful for DD. Having another would be an amazing bonus, but it's not going to be the end of my world if we don't.

anyhow.. elsewhere in my world, we're finally close to finishing the bungalow at the back of our house, and it's going to be ready for holiday lets :D it's only taken us about a year to do it all (new kitchen/bathroom/decorating throughout etc) and it's lovely!! So if any of you would like to come and try it out (mates rates!) let me know ;)

Soy is not good - what about Vitex, macca or red clover blossom infusions instead?

Has anyone tried/considered natural herbs successfully on this site?

I started taking Vitex tincure & it normalised my cycles quickly. A friend with PCO said the same. It would be great to hear positive stories of other moneysavers on this really.

Great news SS - twins!! congrats!!

QQ - hope you get a good batch this time but waiting till Dec is such a long time, bloody work.

2b - good news on donor front.

sarah - hope its a good month for you. When i take the steroids I don't have many side effects apart from increasing appetite and dizzy spells.

Injections for down reg are fine, old hand it now, 5th time lucky.

Grest news on the donor front 2b. Would it be wrong to be trying more than one donor at once? Will there be any contact after? Just thought it may increase chances!

The HSG is the dye thing. I had it done & found out that my tubes were blocked (cleared now with a laparoscopy last week). It's hard to get booked in on NHS as you can only have it between days 1 & 10 so there's a short window - made more difficult for those who don't know when AF will come.

Do you know, I am SO tempted to do that! I'm not sure DW feels the same way, as I have kind of bandied the idea around, and she hasn't seem to thrilled. Scrap that, I just asked her and she said she thinks its a good idea.... shows how much we communicate! OK, so that deffo could be an option going forward. But then we wouldn't know who the biological father was, if our child ever wanted to know... May give it a go, see what happens! There wont be any contact or involvement until the child turns 18 and then they have the right to contact them.

Can you have a laparoscopy done privately, is it expensive, does it also have to be done between 1-10? Maybe it's worth me going private just for that?

Oooh, where is your bungalow? Congrats on finishing and being proud of it!

The bungalow is in a little village in Herefordshire, the most rural (& beautiful!) county in England. Near the welsh borders, the Malverns, & lots of lovely black & white villages. Can you tell I love it here?! ;)

I have used Vitex in the past after a miscarriage, & after the failed IUI to return my cycles to normal. I take it from cd 1 to cd 14 only and it works for me.

I paid for the HSG privately. It was £444.

Luckily health insurance paid for the lap - the consultant quoted about £4k but I haven't seen the bill so I dont know what the actual cost was.

2b. I'm now imagining a scene from Mamma Mia where 3 potential fathers are invited to a wedding! I'm sure there are plenty of us who would like a choice of sperm donors at ov time!

"Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is better in every way than its cousin soy. It contains four phytoestrogens; soy has only one (isoflavone). Red clover infusion has ten times more phytoestrogens than soy "milk," fewer calories, more calcium, and no added sugars. Red clover is the world's leading anti-cancer herb; soy isoflavone encourages the growth of breast cancer cells in the lab. Red clover improves the memory; Japanese men who ate tofu twice a week doubled their risk of Alzheimer's disease. Soy beverage can contain up to 1000 times more aluminum than milk, according to Sally Fallon, lipid researcher and fat specialist. She believes that "the highly processed soy foods of today are perpetuating . . . nutrient deficiencies. . . ."

Also Ive never heard of those herbs you mention - I also have PCO so always interested in finding new herbs!

I am making & drinking red clover blossom infusions - purer/stronger/cheaper than capsules.

I am taking Vitex tincture (from holland & barrat) but am brewing some that I am making myself - will save a few pounds along the way & plan to share with some friends when it's ready.:T

2b - that's great news about finding a new donor. As for hsg I have been trying for months it is so frustrating trying to get an appointment each month when they only do it on a tue morning and you have to be before cd10. Still at least I have appointment now and hope you don't have to wait too long.

Juju - fingers crossed for you that this is the treatment cycle for you.

One step - bungalow sounds lively, love that part of the country.

QQ - good luck with egg collection this cycle.

My consent consultation went well. I now have trans scan and mock egg collection for next thurs and do with hsg next tues I need to get time off work which I hope is possible.
