welcome & congratulations! Honestly, I'd enjoy the positive test.. If your wife is anything like most of us she'll be doing hpt's every couple of days anyway. You could always pay up & have a scan at around 6 wks, but otherwise, take it easy & enjoy.

hi, sorry i didn't post last night but i was lucky enough to win some tickets to the rugby, ans as it was shane williams leaving match i didn't want to miss it :)

scan went well EC is at 10.45 monday, have to do final injections tonight, there are 8 large folicles in my right ovary and 5 in my left, only apparantly my left ovary is very high so it is going to be difficult to get them out, which could explain last time with all the pain after, nevermind, hopefully they will manage it. feeling very sresssed at the moment, i've been snappy with oh, now we have had an arguement and he's, not speaking, feel really down as we never usually argue, i just feel like a walking timebomb at the moment :o

cheqmate, hi, i know it is worrying but try and relax and enjoy it :)

hope everyone is keeping well xxx

Wife and i have been trying for 2 1/2 years with no joy and went for IVF. Had egg transfer completed and 2 week wait was today and test proved postive. I know its wrong but don't want to get too excited just yet.
Reading all these sites about the risks, especially first twelve weeks and am reading about HCG tests. My question is should we be going for blood tests to ensure everything is progressing as it should be as the info states we won't be called to hospital for another 3 weeks.
Know its silly but any help is much appreciated.
    STEP AWAY FROM GOOGLE
My clinic didn't do HCG tests either - I just had to wait for 1st scan.
I think that after undergoing FT you are going to be natrually more anxious and TBH you probably wont relax 100% until your precious baby is safely in your arms:)

Congratulations & I hope you and DW have a happy and healthy 9m

Cheqmate - I agree with everyone else, enjoy it and try not to stress. Its hard waiting for your scan but unfortunately waiting is all you can do. As Onestep said, no doubt your wife will be testing every few days anyway.

Runnerduck, congrats on such good follicles! And lots of luck for Monday.

Sillysausage, yay :j for going again and lots of PMA :j

    Hope everyone is ok xx

    Hi All

Hope everyones doing well .... got loads of posts to catch up on.. this thread moves SO FAST !!

Went back to the doctors today having recieved a letter asking me to go in. She has finally diagnosed me with PCOS which I pretty much expected so no major suprise.
She has started me off on a course of Metformin which I am part pleased about having read so many great things about it with people that have PCOS but im also quite scared to take them..

The side affects are apparently horrendous ' stomach cramps & diahrrea' to top things off I suffer with IBS and as a result have anxiety issues regarding the diahrrea piece..

I asked my GP in light of my IBS and anxiety issues I have read there is a Slow Release version of Metformin that has significantly less side affects and could I take those instead

In a word she said no because of the cost of them to the NHS we had to try the standard ones first.

To be honest I am terrified to take them and feel so upset and angry with my GP. I even said I wouldnt mind paying the difference and she said sorry it doesnt work like that. Take the standard ones for a month and she will see me again then. :(

Anyone have any experiance of Metformin? any advice / recommendations?

I've never taken Metformin, but from what I heard from Bigzippy, she started off with lower dose and weaned into it to minimize side effects. Hopefully she'll post the details here soon:o

Mrs Rogers, like qq says, I am on metformin, and I also have ibs. I worried too. But honestly, after a couple of weeks everything settled down and my body got used to it and there's no difference. I've been on it for a year now I think. I would recommend weaning yourself onto it, starting at a time where you are least stressed/anxious and when your ibs is not flared (eg I'm more constipated during 2ww than any other part of the cycle, so that was a good time to start it ;)). For your own peace of mind it might be good to start them on a Friday night, so you have the weekend to adjust before work on monday (for eg)? I think I started by taking one dose at night, every other night, for a few days, then every night, then the morning dose was added in slowly too. (I'm on 2x 500g, so 1 am and 1 pm). Don't set yourself.up to fail by stressing and googling and worrying about it though, cos that'll probably flare your ibs regardless of the tablets ;) I honestly didn't find it anything like as bad as I was worrying about. :)

Afm, mil is now on pain medication on a syringe driver :( I want the end to be soon now, for hers and all our sakes :( I'm writing this from her bedside

I've cancelled my HSG, which was booked for the 19th, and will have to postpone the FS appt (23rd May) as a result  I asked if it could be.put back a month but the next one they have is August, and then September. :( We've kind of made peace with that though, as having been going through this horrendous ordeal with Mil: a) if we'd have.had the.baby/been pregnant with we've been wanting so long, right now, this would be.so much harder to go through, either looking for childcare or worrying about the effects of the stress on it. Maybe this is the reason we've not conceived yet..?:o b) we'll need time to grieve this loss before we deal with the stress of further FS stuff, I think.

    It's still hard, but...
