Awww.... I want tetestrogen (SP?) gel:jRunnerduck wrote: »our clinic has put me on the tetestrogen gel, instead of the DHEA, they said that they used to use DHEA but they have started using this gel for better quality eggs,
Can one get it without prescription?
I won't try it now (I'm still taking DHEA), but if the FET fails, you can be sure I'll be a Googling maniac:D
My FS hates all supplements so I'm taking it in secret:oI mentioned DHEA to my consultant as my egg quality is pretty poor but he said he wouldn't recommend it as its not proven to make any difference and as you have to buy it over the internet your not sure what is in it. I would give it go if I had better quality though.
The one from www.dhea.com looks like it's good quality. I think onestep recommended it.
My clinic doesn't do much fresh transfers as they think there may be progesterone probs after egg collection, and even if they do, they'll only put back 5 day blastos (mine is 6 day) as 6 day ones can be out of sync with my body hormones or something like that.fluffnutter wrote: »How come you're having your embryo frozen and not put straight back in, QQ?0 -

That's really interesting. I've been looking for some data on fresh vs FET. My current pregnancy is from a fresh transfer (I think it's day 4 but I'm not sure whether EC day is day zero or day one. Collection was done on Friday, transfer on Tuesday).
But we have some frozen embryos and we may well have another go but obviously as an FET. I'd always assumed that fresh had the better success rate but yours is the second thing I've read to suggest that, in actual fact, FETs are more successful. I think part of the reason is thought to be that only top grade embryos are ever frozen so you've already got a head start but the thing about hormones is interesting and not something I'd come across.
I think there are a couple of things to consider - the quality of the embryos and the receptiveness of the womb. Both are quite separate really. It's not an exact science is it?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
My clinic counts the EC as day 0, so in your case it's a day 4 embryo.fluffnutter wrote: »(I think it's day 4 but I'm not sure whether EC day is day zero or day one. Collection was done on Friday, transfer on Tuesday).
My clinic is a minimal stim clinic, so they use as little medication as possible. Less eggs are collected, but is cheaper:money:thing about hormones is interesting and not something I'd come across.
I think it's more down to luck:oIt's not an exact science is it?0 -
hi QQuaver, i don't know if you can get the testogel without a prescription, mine came in my £1200 drug delivery, but it is 50mg/5g sachets of testogel and i have had to rub quarter of a sachet in the top of my arm each night, i only have to do 2 more nights of this as it was for 24 days0

I'm not going to get it until the FET fails and after I Google more though:o
I have PCO so I need to be careful, and my doctor is anti-supplements:o0 -

Hope everyone's as ok as they can be...?
AFM: we can't try til after the HSG, so nothing doing on that front.
On top of that, MIL has taken another turn for the worse, after a hideous 6 months of stroke, heart attck, renal failure, sepsis and other issues... and the doctors pulled us aside today to tell us they think she won't come back from this, we should withdraw all treatment, and that she only has maybe 4-5days left.
We meet with the Palliative Care team tomorrow, to see if it is even possible to get her home, comfily, to end her days.
I can't even tell you how devastated I am that not only could she never meet her grandchild(ren), but we couldn't even share the news of a pregnancy with her
I know she would've absolutely loved and adored a grandchild, and spoilt it to death

Hugs to you all especially big zippy:grouphug:, I am going through the same thing with my FIL, he basically has no blood production and could go at any minute, and I feel really bad especially as my own dad died when I was 16, and deep down the thought that I would be able to say to my kid(s), here is your grandfather is especially hard knowing he could die at minute.0 -

Interesting...I may be joining you..expensive though, but I guess I won't be forking out £800 for the OI soon, so what's £120 per month between friends..?
Think I'd not tell DH, he's sick of me p*ssing money against the wall..
This sounds interesting tho - so it's thought to improve egg quality? And clinics use it, for 24 days out of the cycle? Hmm.0 -
