Hello everyone - Good luck with Z West JuJu - looking forward to hearing absolutely every detail please!!!

+Welcome Zippy - no-one would begrudge you a BFP for a minute, so fingers crossed it does just happen *one of these months*. The weightloss - impressive - should definitely help. How old are you btw?

I have never had an HSG but I had a HyCoSy which is similar I think and it was painless.

    +++++++++

Had scan yesterday - looking good (it always does!) on CD8 (AF only just departed) with one 10mm follicle and 6x8mm follicles on the right - and, as ever, virtually no sign of activity on the left. Having seen quite a lot of my left ovary (which is very small in size, sometimes the scanners can't find it!) over the years, I have to conclude it has *never* done anything. Prob the cause of my problems, because of course the right one will have been working doubly hard over the years to compensate, firing off all my best material in my teens and twenties, when it was for nought!

Silly - I have had acupuncture with every IVF. I have one before I stim 2 during stim 1 before transfer and one after transfer, but I think some do it differently. My acupuncturist trained with Zita West so I feel pretty confident. Whether it helps or not is another thing but I find it relaxing.

Welcome Zippy ay your say be short.

Hope you get some more follicles chickpea, good luck.

GTS - hope you gat your referral soon.

    Good luck to all.

Runnerduck, got my fingers crossed the short protocol is the one that works for you xx

annmarj, good luck on shifting that last 9lbs :T

tinksy, not read that book. The only book I have got relating to ttc is The Conception Chronicles by Patty Doyle Debano. Its more of a lighthearted book about the emotional journey of ttc than the medical/health side of it and it is so funny but sooooo true. I was actually laughing out loud quite a few times

Bigzippy, welcome. Hope your stay is short xx

SS, I cant believe how rubbish your appointment was . I would definitely be complaining. This is all hard enough without the incompetence of the clinic as well

GTS, hope your referral is speedy xx

AFM, Im doing ok in my 2ww. No symptoms yet (doesnt stop me looking for them though :p and Im only 5 days in!) Just very bloated with the pessaries. They have put me on 2 twice a day this time. Last time was just 1 twice a day. Every little twinge etc I know its just the pessaries anyway

Still feeling positive :T. Though I was gritting my teeth last night. Visiting relatives and heard all the usual noises about how I should relax more and not stress about it all. And how Im too paranoid about what I should and shouldnt eat / drink. They drive me crazy . I dont know how many times I have told them I am not going to do something that I shouldnt, simply so if it doesnt work I cant blame myself.

If the doc said I had to stand on my head for 12 hours a day I would do it :rotfl:

Hi Big zippy, as they say welcome, hope you are not on here long... It is frustrating waiting for the appointments, I have had to lose weight not much to go and hopefully not long before I get clomid. I had my HSG - I would take paracetomol before you go in, it can potentially be pain full! It was obviously a man who deceided what the pain felt like!!!! Well done on the weight loss tho. xxxx knew I should not of told OH is results as they were off the ricter scale, his blood is A+ he commented he was A+ in everything!!!:D
I've got more weight to lose before my FS appt at the end of May, and a lot more before they'd let me have IVF, but I'm not sure how much of an "allowance" they'd allow before letting me have clomid. I guess it depends what the rest of the tests show... I'm still getting on with the weightloss though, and DH is too, he's lost 3st too, so we're getting there together :) Does anyone know if DH's have to be a certain BMI for IVF too, btw? (I realise it might chance PCT to PCT, doc to doc) I'm not sure how long your weight loss journey is, but well done for only having 9lbs left :D You can do it, I'm sure :D

Thanks re the HSG... I was dreading it tbh. They say smears and internal scans aren't supposed to hurt, but I have a nerve ending disorder that makes pain feel worse than it is, in a way, so I'm not looking forward to it :o I know I've had worse pain, but it's the self-consciousness too ;) Anyway, I'm getting more and more paranoid about whether I'd got endometriosis, and whether it might be squeezing my tubes etc, so I need to know now

I know I'm now of a BMI where I could be operated on though, so if they found anything/a reason to want to go on and do a laparoscopy, they could do. :o:)

DH kept saying "well within normal" in a rather smug tone, every so often, for a few weeks after the result came in too ;)

Thanks, re the weightloss. I'm only just now beginning to see the difference in myself, and realising how far I've come - especially without being able to do exercise. My own GP is really impressed, so I'm hoping my FS will be too :D

As for age... I'm sneaking up on 30 I thought I'd have been married for years and have had a whole brood by now :o but hey...not much I can do about it now :)

What's the HyCoSy then? Like I know the HSG is the dye up the foof ;) and then an xray to see where it goes...what's the difference between that and the HyCoSy?

    Hi Primmer ;)

There's some other familiar names I see on here, but it's hard to get a gauge cos there's (as far as I can see?) no list or anything... to all you guys anyway, I hope your respective appointments/treatments etc are going well :)

    Hi

We got our results back yesterday and looks like we have the double whammy of a low sperm count and potential PCOS. I am being referred for an internal scan, I had a smear, internal swabs and an internal exam (she casually threw that in at the last minute.....)

Not really sure what to think, our chances of natural conception are now slim so we are waiting for our fertility appointment to come through and see what happens from there. Currently trying some lifestyle changes with diet, supplements and activity. I am also trying to lose weight, I lost 2lbs this week which I am pretty proud of!

Lots of activity on here !

C4B - have everything crossed for you. Family are a nightmare - I would be rich now if I saved a £1 for each time I was told to relax ;)

Anmarj - could luck with the remaining weight

Bigzippy - hello and welcome. "Dye up the foof" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have had that and because my tubes were blocked I did find it painful, however the pain does go as soon as they stop. I would echo what someone else said about taking a couple of paracetamol beforehand - I wish I had. But know that you are in and out very quickly and you will be fine. The procedure is good because it really helps them to check whether your tubes are ok - and to clear any blockages too which helps. Well done also on all the weight loss and good luck with the remainder.

As for DH's weight - I have found that because my DH's sperm is fine they don't care about his weight - in fact he never gets lectured on anything !

Fingers crossed however that you have caught a sticky bean this month :D

Chickpea - grow follies, grow :D

Sillysausage - that sounds really rubbish with your appt, they should have been clearer with you in advance !

Tinksy - Good on you for trying some lifestyle changes. PCOS can be managed by diet and people do still fall pregnant. DH should be taking zinc too although that may only have small affect. Your specialist will be able to advise though so I hope that appt comes through quickly for you hun.

Nothing happening with me. Met up with my friend who has had a successful IVF (4th attempt) and is now 6.5 mths pg - of course she now seems to have forgotten the struggles she went through for the last 8 years and guess what she thought I should do...... relax !!

Then I had a conversation with my mother who told me that I should be patient because God was still preparing my child - she has said that to me every few months from about 5 years ago

    Family and friends = :wall:

AF is probably between 5 and 8 days away (can't be sure because I didn't manage to note when I ov'd). Have had the odd twinge and hopeful moment but my sensible side is telling me that its not happened again. Always get sore bbs before AF and right on cue they are sore, darn those bbs !

Nearing the time for our next appt now and I am really hoping that they will finally say yes to IVF. Would like to try and shift another 4lbs before that appt but I seem to be stuck at the mo! Going to try more water, some Davina and less pizza :p

Hi Staffiecat - I didn't realise you'd been TTC so long - poor you. Poor all of us!

I need to knuckle down on losing a few pounds again too - had lots of visitors recently which hasn't helped and I've been knocking back the booze a bit too freely too.

    No more!

That said, sometimes I really do wonder how much of a role weight plays...watched 'Supersize v. Superskinny' the other night - inevitably, the Supersize woman, who was 25 stone, had 6 kids, inc. 5 in 4 years (with I'm guessing twins in the mix). She wasn't that young either, definitely well into her thirties.

Regardless, I bought 2 dresses from Boden before Christmas, that are a bit snug, but I didn't return them, because of course I was going to lose a few pounds - hasn't happened yet!! So I need to sort it out.

I'd go for a little jog (possibly just some power-walking to ease me in..) if it wasn't pouring down with rain outside!

Maybe I'll just have a little bath first (with one of my stash of bath bombs)..mmm.

That's another addiction that may not be helping - in ye olde days of yore, I'm sure people had gin and hot baths to abort unwanted pregnancies - I don't know how much of an old wives' tale that is, but I should maybe just curtail my hot baths just for the 2ww.

Not there yet though - CD10, with another follicle scan tomorrow.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

For anyone trying to lose weight I use myfitnesspal.com.

I cannot diet! I feel like I am depriving myself and fail. However as you just log your calories you can move things around as you please.

Yep, unfortunately. It will be 5 years on our wedding anniversary. The reason we are still waiting to be referred is because our local PCT only allow IVF if you have had 3 or more years of unexplained infertility and because we had the mc 2 years into trying they count day 1 of trying as being from the mc (she bangs her head some more) - but we are nearly there so they should refer us soon. We did chill out last year - they weren't going to help us and my emotions were very high so we took some 'us' time and stepped away from the monthly soul destroying process!

I did go for a little jog this morning in the pouring rain with my dogs. Woke up with tummy cramps so thought well if AF is on her way may as well try and shift another 1lb ! When I got home AF arrived, 5 days early ! So today is CD1 and this is my shortest cycle in years ! I have spent the rest of the day with a hot water bottle attached to my stomach. Since the op my first cd is very painful and very heavy. Also watched lots of meaningless TV ;)

As for the hot baths, I used to have those all of the time but for some reason I got it into my head that they weren't great for ttc so don't really have them anymore (I do still wash of course :rotfl:)

Good luck with the scan tomorrow. I am about to settle into a movie marathon with DH which has become our ritual Sunday evening activity ! What better way to prepare for a Monday at work than to escape reality through the world of movies :D

Staffie - hugs for af but well done for going for a jog. The rules for ivf are so restructive, we don't qualify due to my age and DH having daughter from previous marriage which seems so unfair. Enjoy your movie marathon.
