Thanks Chickpea I'll look there. Without hijacking the thread into a diet one, I generally do weightwatchers as a long term way of life, but adapt Atkins into it whenever I want to drop weight fast. I.e. I eat Atkins foods and avoid carbs, but still stick my weightwatchers points. It super comes off then! good luck. x

  • Hello all,
Hope you had a good christmas and here's to the best 2012 possible which would be for us to all get our BFPs !

Onestep/Chickpea - My BMI is similar to yours. I'm usually around 28 but after the christmas excess I think I may be just over 29. Its not good as I have a meeting with specialist soon and I have to be 29 or under for IVF referral. Chickpea, what are you doing on the Atkins, any tips would be appreciated !

Welcome Bluemeanie, Mokba43 and PinkPeach :hello: Fingers crossed for testing day PinkPeach. You have great willpower to hold off ;)

    Congrats Tiny :j:j Fantastic news.

I haven't been on for a while so I have quite a bit of catching up to do. As for my ttc update, we bd'd like made in the run up to Ov and on the day - DH was a very happy bunny :rotfl: I've been temping, using CBFM and OPKs this month. Happy that I caught ov correctly but I don't think we have a bean unfortunately. Today is CD28 and AF is due from CD29 to CD31. Lots of AF cramping and lots of emotions again like last month but ultimately feel normal.

My emotions nosedived last week when my cousin and BF announced their pregnancies - I am doing my best to be cheery and whilst I am very happy for them, I do feel utterly gutted and totally upset about my own situation :( DH has never known me to be so emotional or needy - its really worsened since the operation. But I am trying to regain my PMA and I really really hope it happens for us this year. Please please please.

Anyway, I still have a few more days off work :T and I have focused on DIY during my 2ww. Had to do something ! Done lots of painting and totally transformed my hallway and tonight I actually used my sewing machine for the first time ever and updated some curtains :D

I always end up waffling on for ages on my posts, sorry guys!!
    xx
  • Just read back, I am so sorry for the BFNs - hope everyone is ok and sending huge hugs.

Welcome also sillysausage and any other newbies that I have missed. As ever, I hope your stay is short !

QQ, have you started that round of IVF - it looks very interesting to me. Best of luck with it.

The good thing about doing Atkins is just losing that crazed feeling of hunger that sometimes follows me around, even when I've just eaten!

Just before Christmas I felt I was slowly committing carbicide with all the Christmas cookies, mince pies, sweets...

So I was totally ready to break free!

I haven't completely got organised yet - still mostly having eggs in some form for breakfast and meat of some sort, or fish, with green vegetables for tea (and last night I had berries with cream afterwards, although you're not supposed to during induction I don't think) but also snacking on things like beef jerky, cheese+celery, some nuts, soup. I drink decaff coffee with a splash of cream or herbal tea or water (and some sneaky decaff diet coke which I'm not sure is allowed). Lunch is whatever protein I can lay my hands on, depending on what's in the fridge - when I go back to work (tomorrow!) I'll have to plan things better!

I quite like the Atkins bars you can buy too - pricey (although they're on offer now while everyone jumps on the January diet bandwagon!) but stop me feeling deprived of chocolate.

I haven't lost tons of weight yet, but it's early days and I'm just enjoying not clockwatching, wondering when I can eat again.

BM - couldn't do Weightwatchers - too faffy/complicated for me!
  • Thanks Staffiecat, I hope my stay is short (I have been lurking for ages though!!).

I had my 1st scan yesterday after taking Prostap on Christmas day, everything looks fine and the nurse showed me how to inject. I start Thursday, 2 injections eeekkk!!

I then have to go back next Thursday for my next scan. She thinks my egg collection will be w/c 16th Jan. Never had any kind of op before so pretty nervous. We did try and attend one of the new patient evenings they do but the only one we could get too they cancelled - typical, shame we had traveled all the way there to find this out - hay ho!

Hopefully this will be a good year for us all! xx

My appointment at CRGW went really well :D Looks like I start my IUI with injectables next cycle! Had the dildocam to check everything looks normal, and the Dr said that my ovaries look better than my AMH levels would suggest - 4 follicles on one, and 3 on the other (CD7 today). So that's good news. She was absolutely in support of me taking DHEA too (Thanks Lilo!) So I go in once AF arrives (the only time I'm going to look forward to AF arriving!) to have a baseline scan, then get given the Menopur etc, then after 10 days or so get the trigger shot. DH's sample gets washed, put where it needs to be etc etc etc. Am sooo excited!! :D:D This will be the closest we've come for months. She said that DH's count was a little low, but doing IUI would still put more of his boys where they need to be, at exactly the right time. The odds would be better with IVF, but not much - 5% IUI, 5-10% IVF. Not great either way really, but I'm just so much more comfortable with the idea of IUI than I am with IVF.

So.. 3 weeks till I go back. What can I do to maximise my chances? I'm going to book a couple of acupuncture sessions I think - anyone know when would be best? Anything else?

Left the clinic just smiling and smiling.. they've got all the thank you cards up on the windowsill.. it gives off such good vibes :)

We can still be 'cycle buddies'. Good luck with your injections too, is this your first time?

Good luck Onestep thats really exciting, bet your counting down the days!!

I dont know if im being parinod or if it is the prostap injection but I took my blood pressure the other night (OH has a testing machine as he has had 3 mini strokes in '09 - is on a ton of medication to keep his BP down) and it was quite high for me. Its usually really good (below 120) or if its the stress of just going through IVF??

    Does anyone know?
