Onestep I know nothing about AMH really, but I take it that is not good?
Hope someone else will be along soon who can talk about it and help perhaps.
Sorry you are feeling so blue, there is always a way however

Just got my AMH results.. 2.4

How old are you onestep? And do you know what scale they were using? There are two scales apparently (just to confuse everything a bit further). Has anyone talked to you about what this means? My result was lowish but I was told that for my age (40) it was very good so not to lose heart.

Oh Lisa, I am so sorry

2.4 (I don't know the scale though, Sarah) is low .. I'm 40, so I knew it wouldn't be great but that low is a bit of a stinker. Means I probably won't respond very well to the drugs if we go for IVF I think. My next appt with the consultant in on 6th Sept so I guess we wait til then but I have to confess to feeling v blue about it atm. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time0 -
It's quality not quantity. One only needs one golden egg:)2.4 (I don't know the scale though, Sarah) is low .. I'm 40, so I knew it wouldn't be great but that low is a bit of a stinker. So sorry Lisa, my heart goes out to you as you have been through so much. Take time to grieve and I send you lots of hugs.
Sorry onestep that you AMH is low but there is still a chance there is something there and you never know how you will respond to the drugs. I am a poor responder and my AMH is 17 but it just takes alot of drugs for me. It only takes one good embie to work.
I had my appt on Friday and have decided to take steroids with my next ICSI as I don't like the sound of the IVIg and the cost of it. The steroids should be enough to knock the NK cells down a bit.
Off to Vegas on 3rd nov for my wedding followed by a week in LA and San Fran, start injections while I'm away and EC around 6th Dec. Work are going to love me with all that time off.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM

Onestep, mine is 0.07 and I am 42. VVVVVVV Low! I have been recommended DHEA which is experimental, but has shown promise. Google it and then chat to your consultant about it. I suspected mine was low, cos only one ovary works, and I have been a poor responder - but the other side of the story is the FSH result - mine is very reasonable for my age, which is a guide to the possible quality of the eggs. Less eggs but good quality is better that loads of eggs of poor quality.
I know you are down about the result, but chat with your consultant because this is only one result they look at and should be considered as part of the whole picture. HTH

Thanks everyone.. I do appreciate the replies! I was really upset this morning, but you're right, it only takes one. I'm off to google DHEA - thanks Lilo

Really sorry for the BFN Lisa - gutted for you, actually.

Onestep - we have more in common than just cycle days! I went through the same feelings in May when I found out my AMH was low too - mine was 3.1 - consistent with my inability to get pg!
QQ - from what I've googled, AMH *IS*an indicator of quality as well as quantity it turns out - indirectly anyway. The fewer eggs you have, the poorer the quality of what's left - on the basis that your ovary/ies select(s) the best quality eggs to ovulate first (when you were 15 and not in a position to appreciate it!) So by the time you're 36 or whatever (38 for me) with low AMH, there are likely to be fewer eggs of less than great quality. This sounds bleak, but as far as I know is the truth of it and there's no point being unrealistic.
Anecdotally, plenty of women with low AMH will spontaneously conceive, so it doesn't need to mean it's all over for natural pg.
Also, as Lilo pointed out, a decent FSH level can at least offer some reassurance regarding the quality of what's there.
As far as FS go, AMH is of limited value - it's an indicator of whether you should postpone TTC or not (i.e. not!) and also of how well you might respond to fertility drugs. It's not the be all and end all though.
And of course, the great unknown is what the AMH levels are of the fertile poulation at large - no-one tests the AMH levels of normally fertile women, so it's possible there are wide variations out there anyway.
Don't despair!0 -
So sorry lisa, was really hoping this would be the one for you.
pinkpeach, i know how hard it is to stay positive, but none of the things you have done will make any difference, try to relax and be good to yourself x
