SK - get in a lot of comedy DVDs - it sounds daft, but apparently if you watch comedy during IVF (particularly in the 2ww) it helps!
Oh dear, may have watched too many Criminal Minds/CSI/NCIS.. No wonder it didn't work:p

A big house cleaning before 2ww is good too, as you don't want to do that in the all important 2ww. I was told not to do much during the 2ww.

I have booked a zen pedicure for Sunday - gradually, I am feeling more and more...decontaminated! I feel like Karen Silkwood!
    Well done:T

I have to say, I'm not doing anything in that department. Just buying occasional organic veggies:o

I was watched The Hills Boxsets no wonder mine didn't work all that reality rubbish pushed my embies into despair.:p

Sexki11en - I try and drink lots of water and stay away from processed foods and eat organic meat, milk etc. I think you can go a bit overboard but do what is best for you. I also have acupunture as I find this helps with the blood flow and relaxtion.

Now you're making fun of me!!

Now I realise it sounds a bit unlikely..it's referenced in one of my many, many books in the subject. I'll have to dig around to see which one.

Anyway - according to my book, there was a study in Israel (the Israelis are really big on IVF apparently, in a way that people of other religions like Catholicism and Islam are not so much) in a clinic studying 2 groups of IVF patients. The first had entertainment like a clown/comedian while they rested up for 2 hours after their treatment, the other group did not.

As far as I recall, the success rates in the first group were significantly higher. Now, you may well scoff (and I think you will!!) but the subconscious is a powerful thing, so who knows?

And like I said - would it hurt to watch a few episodes of Friends (or whatever makes you laugh) instead of the Wire (or the 10 o'clock news) for 2 weeks?

I have also seen the research about watching comedy, i did hire some comedy films out for my 2ww (well i thought it was worth a try:)) so i'm with you on that one chickpea, and i'll give it a go next time too, maybe i just need to watch the films for longer so my embies actually stay there

Hi Everyone, I'm new to posting on this thread but have lurked for quite a while! I was wondering if anyone could help. My husband & I have been ttc for over 3 years, I have had a 21 day progesterone done which confirmed ovulation and OH has had 2 SA done, both low count, poor morphology and motility. We have now been refered to a fertility clinic. My questions are: How long can we expect to wait for initial consultation? What happens after that? I would have expected further investigations with me but GP said no, they are treating this as male factor infertility, is this normal procedure?
Sorry for so many questions & thanks in advance for any replies!

Hell honey, if someone told me hanging upside down from the rafters showed a significant increase in success i'd do it right now and not scoff! (what a great word BTW - scoff lol)

I shall look forward to many hours of comedies when i'm in my 2ww then. Best get looking some dvd's out!

    SK x

hi and welcome tinypablo. we had to go private which is fairly quick, so im not sure about the NHS waiting list, it looks like you are similar to us, and once my oh's sa came back very poor they didnt bother checking my tubes etc as we had to have ICSI which bypasses all the other female problems, they are probably thinking the same for you, but they should have told you. someone else will probably be along in a bit who can give you more info on the waiting list, good luck!

  • Hi i too am a newbie to this board

Been trying 12 months now and nothings happened. Booked in with doctor who took bloods and they came back fine. OH has to provide SA sample and then i have to book my appointment with the hospital. SA should be fine as OH already has a child 13 years ago so not worried on that front. Please can someone tell me what happens on my first appointment with the hospital? I am 27 / 28 this month and i have been with my OH 11 1/2 years now and feel that i have left it too late. OH just rang booked in for tuesday for SA

also can i ask when i ovulate i dont ever get EWCM is this a problem?? i also dont take anything other then folic acid

    Many Thanks
