    Hello

Do you mind if I join you? I'm (just turned) 30 and DH is 39 - we've been TTC #1 since Sept 09 with no success. After giving it 13 months (because 13 is my lucky number!) we went to the Dr's and are now starting all the tests to find out what the problem might be. So far, I've had blood tests and DH has had his swimmers tested and we are eagerly awaiting the results.

A few years ago I did have LLETZ or a cone biopsy (I dont even know which...I was too traumatised to ask!!) to remove CIN3 cells and our Dr did wonder whether the scar tissue on my cervix was preventing DH's swimmers getting in? It's early days anyway but I wondered whether anyone here had had or heard of something similar?

I look forward to getting to know you all.

    M :)

Oh Runnerduck, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that they can fit you in. I know what that long wait is like. I have had to wait over a year for second attempt. Is there any other private clinics you can go to if they can't fit you in.

Welcome to the Board Murray - join the fun!

    So the actual results...
    Volume 4.3ml (good)
    PH 8.5 (good)
    No antisperm antibodies (good)
Concentration 21.5million/ml (just over the reccommended)
Progressive Motility 33% (bad - should be greater than 50%)
Normal forms 5% (bad - should be greater than 15%)
Motile Normal Sperm 0.4million/ml (very bad - should be 1.5 or more)

So there we are. Now trying to research what might be done next. In our trust we can have up to 3 IUI and a combination of 6 of the following IUI (max of 3), OV medication, Donor insemination. We don't need OV medication and won't contemplate donor insemination yet. We also get one round of IVF or ICSI. Am I right in thinking though that with MNSC of 0.4 - there is a chance they won't do IUI and will move straight on to ICSI? Anyone have any ideas what might be in store for us now?

Aghhhh - sorry for the bold font - no idea why it's doing that - Bold isn't highlighted.

Your OH's motile sperm is similar to my OHs. I would think they would go straight ICSI (like us). If the sperm has poor mobility IUI and IVF are not really suitable as they leave the sperm to do their natural job and get to the egg. With ICSI they pick the best sperm and do all sorts of things like cut the tail off or the extra head! and then inject it into the egg.

Thanks Juju, I suspected as much. One go..... wow. If there was spare money to save, we would but we're already on the bones of our @r$e$!

Well, we'll see what happens when we go for our appt.

    Thanks again.

thanks jugjugaboo, we can go to birmingham but its over 2 hours away and thats if the traffic is good, i think that i would be far too stressed before i even reached the clinc, but we might have to see, i'm still hoping for good news yet :)

You might be lucky first time, it does happen. Wishing you luck on your appt. I have been lucky as I am on my second free go but they are stopping that in my area in December so I just got in.

Runnerduck - hope you get in at your hospital near you, 2 hours is a long drive. I have a 50 min drive to my hospital and its all country roads. I was there for less then 10 mins yesterday for a scan and then had to come all the way back and back to work. I was kanckered!

    Welcome Murray:wave:

As for motility, my DH's is 22% (3% fast, 19% slow):(
Not to mention 1% normal morph.
And the doctor is not at all concerned about it. He thinks DH is fine:huh:

I'm going to push for IUI this cycle...
