Sadly I believe the whole thing may be private, although I am hoping that the tests etc will be NHS - they definately want to do a vaginal scan to check out my tubes so that will probably cost a bob - my trial embryo tfr etc cost £500!!!! But I have to say that if she does what my doc says, and is an expert - she said that this doctor works closely with the prof and she knows what she is talking about - then she will truly be worth her weight in gold! Although I have to say that the cost will take some swallowing as we thought we had discounted IVF so hadnt really planned the expense ............ Ahh well, have to sell a few things!

I have an appointment with the fertility specialist on 9th June, but since that is ages away, I have devised a plan of my own in the meantime:

My ttc plan for this cycle

CD3 Take 3 Soya isoflavones tablets (It is natural alternative to clomid)
    CD4 ''
    CD5 ''
    CD6 ''
    CD7 ''
CD8 Take Robitussin and drink lots of water until ov:cool:

    How's this?
    Hopefully I'll ov CD13 - 17.

I know OH has 2 work trips, and one will definitely be at the end of my ov period, I know he is here on CD12 for sure, so fingers crossed we'll catch the egg (need fertile cm). Otherwise, it's July/Aug.

Better eggs are produced if I take Soya on CD5 - 9, but since I had temp drop and spotting 2 days prior to CD1, I thought CD3 might possibly be also CD5.

I should mention, one of our problems is my extra long cycles with ov happening very late. Last cycle was 54 days with ov at around CD40.

I really wanted Clomid, but it would be too late by June 9th since I'm on CD1 today:(

It's been a nice break in a way, without pressure (well, pressure to lose weight, but the medical diet I'm on has made that so much easier)

Is this something that has been givenm to you by your doctor or something?

I'm desperate to lose weight to help us with the ttc but I just cannot seem to get any weight off me no matter how hard I try. I brought it up with my doctor when I went and asked about our problems conceiving and all she said was eat healthily – well durr don’t you think I am already doing that?!

I was hoping for some more advice on how to lose weight from the doctor than that really!

    Lilo, it all sounds promising!!!

No news here as yet. AF is not really here yet, but it is def on the way (maybe in the next few hours, maybe tomorrow). But now I have a problem - I need to take Letrozole day 2-6, and scan on day 11, which falls out on Sunday, so they would like to scan me on Tuesday, as last month. But I can't get out of work on Monday, I have a client all day and my boss (who would be doing the training) is on holiday that day. I told him that I need doctors appointment Monday or Tuesday, and he very politely told me to make it for Tuesday.

So, will hospital make consideration and move me to CD13 scan, or they just won't bother and tell me to skip the month?... Maybe I should just bluff and say that CD1 is actually Friday, and start taking my pills day later.

OH is not too keen on my taking Letrozole after his mum got her trigger in again. She is a retired doctor and when he told her what I was prescribed for next month, she looked it up. Letrozole is not licensed for fertility treatment in UK, and it is forbidden in Italy to be used outside the designed use (breast cancer). It is linked to mutation in early pregnancy, but all the reports I found state that is only if it is taken whilst pregnant, therefore it is only used for fertility treatment before ovulation. It doesn't stay in your body like clomid, and the side effects are supposed to be much milder.

So, I promised OH I will take pg test before I start the pills just to make sure I am not pregnant. (even though AF will be there). (and the last two days showed that I am not pg - I did the tests)

Has anyone else taken Letrozole or heard anything more about them?...

My dad lost quite a bit of weight waiting for an op, living on drips for few days. Why can't we live on drips or pills? No food except pills and water?

Have you tried Atkins style? Perhaps just for dinner? (Cutting out carbs, like bread, potatoes and substituting with veg like cauliflower or Broccoli?)

No, never heard of it, but anything is worth a shot.
    Good luck:)

No, it's something I'm doing separately. I've low carbed for years but it just wasnt' working fast enough for me any more. It's expensive but it works, and fast. THey work hard at maintaining your resting metabolic rate so that when you come off the diet you don't end up putting it all back on (which happens so often withthings like Lighter Life etc).

    This is the link: http://www.alizonne.co.uk/

Normally I'd steer clear of things like it but I'm desperate and feel like this is my last go (I'm 40 in September). I;m already the weight I was when I conceived my son, but want to go lower than that just to rule out the weight thing as a problem if I do mc again.

    Hi everyone,

I have been lurking and keeping up with the thread although I haven't had much to report.

Re: Low carb diets: Zeta West isn't an advocate of these as they cause the body to become acid which in turn can cause an unwelcome environment for sperm.

Ginvzt, good luck with weight loss, etc.

Lilo - great news about your smear results, good luck with the new doctor.

    Hello everyone,

Well I've hit the 12 month mark today (yes I am sad enough to know to the exact day!), and I'm on CD1 again, so get the pleasure of joining you lot :)

We are getting tests done at the docs, but have been waiting about 1 1/2 months for a referal for OHs sperm count, and can't fill in the fertility referal form until that's done.

I'm feeling pretty positive at the moment, as at least we are over the first stage of trying and waiting. Also we have started looking into fostering, which I would love to do.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
