Ginzt good luck with your weight loss. I am sure you will get there. I have lost over 3 stones since Oct. (nearly a stone and half of that in last 5 weeks) For ivf on NHS here bmi needs to be below 35. I was panicking that was not quite there so went on Cambridge diet before 1st appt as was worried would not refer me. Did Cambridge SS no food for 4 weeks and then am gradually adding food back last week and this. Will have lost 21lbs in just less than 6 weeks. Bmi now at 32ish. Going to carry on with healthy eating and excercise to lose rest of weight and get my bmi down to healthier range while waiting on treatment. Not ideal diet as I believe in good eating practices but did the job. And I knew I had to stick to it if wanted to get ivf on nhs.
    Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.
  • I have been very down lately - a mix of TTC blues, not setting time aside to have fun, poor sleeping patterns and a virus that seems to come and go but which I am struggling to get rid of.

Aww hugs hun, me too, so I know the feeling. Hope you are feeling better soon x

Thanks all. My consultant told me that BMI has to be below 30. But then I found a post on another forum by someone who was referred to IVF from my hospital to Liverpool and they require BMI to be 29 or below, so 29.5 won't do! It is getting more and more scary!

Oh an work trip - now they are talking on flying out on Easter day! That means getting down to Gatwick day before (Saturday). I really don't want to fly on EAster day nad I did have a bit of a cry yesterday over this. Maybe it won't happen yet...

Our limit is 29 in East Sussex. I was 30 and the consultant put me down as 29!

Also (again with the also), I'm considering going private for a cycle while I'm on the NHS waiting list. I'm not sure how I feel about this. It maybe seems a little wasteful? It's not my money I'm considering, it's my parents' (they are great). They are the ones that have suggested I consider it . They aren't loaded, though they can afford it - it's already put aside. I just don't know how I feel about it. I am fed up of waiting, and I do feel out of control. Going private would do something about that. But it feels like throwing money away, when patience would possibly (hopefully) prevent the need to go private at all.

    Big day. Lots of thinking.

Well, if it were me I would jump at the chance to go private. It's not wasteful at all if your parents are offering it - and if it works, you will have freed up a place on the NHS waiting list for someone who doesn't have the option of private. So rather than wasteful, it's using resources far more efficiently, when you look at the big picture. ANd the IVF would still h ave to be paid for whether you go NHS or private, it's just who does the funding that's the difference. Good luck with your decision.

I'd like your consultant ;-) I have about 7kg to go to reach BMI of 29 (that is me in the morning, with no clothes on ). Obviously, I will be wearing clothes when they check my weight, so need to lose more!!!!!

The trouble is, that I am feeling quite down at the moment (the *?!?! work trip). I was really tempted to get som ice cream last night, but resisted and as OH was making rabbit I ended up having a bowl of cereal for dinner. (The rabbit was ready at 9pm!!! I had a small bit, but will have it for dinner tonight)

I am off to get my lunch from M&S - a bit of comfort... (They do fantastic salads, even if not very MSE)

    Hello ladies

appointment went well, it was very quick, my hormones are high for my age but they think thats connected to my RA, OH sperm count was normal but they said his last 2 were a little low (I thought results came back ok but guess not) so they are putting us down for ICSI but that's beacuse on the day if we need ICSI it takes 2 hours to get the lab ready so it's best to have it ready just incase then have IVF if it's not needed. So I ring them when AF arrives in April this should be 16th and then it all starts!!! I have an appointment for a blood test and a scan day 2 - 5 then injections start day 21 :D:D:D

hope everyone is well x x

I'm glad things are moving for you nichart.

Anyone got a link to some info about PCO? The nurse was very specific to say that it was a polycystic ovary, and not PCOS as my hormone levels are normal. Everything I'm finding online seems to be calling itself Polycystic ovaries, but is actually referring to PCOS. Any help much appreciated. :D
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

Jiblets, try putting something like this into the Google search bar:

    +"polycystic ovary" -ovaries -PCOS -syndrome

You can add (or take away) anything you want to make sure that word or phrase is included or excluded from the hits it finds.

You could also post on the health board to see if any of the medical boffins can enlighten you further?

Can't suggest much more for now, but I'll go and have a hunt for you, x

Nichart, glad it went well, what a relief! x
