I think that only applies when you have assisted conception treatment, rather than just appointments/tests.

I think you're right bigzippy although I have heard of people unable to access NHS funded FET after they paid for private embryo storage but were only told about the process afterwards!

T2D my CCG will fund either 1 or 2 IVF cycles if a couple has had up to 3 previous private cycles.

Aww disappointed by my reaction to tramadol. Just makes me a tiny bit sleepier than usual.

Some judicious combining might be in order. But you didn't read that here ;)

Feeling very fed up & teary today. Got my letter for my first investgative scan but we're away, so she'll send me out a letter with a new appointment on it, I guess for the following week (end of October). No idea what they're looking for & seeing as the letter states I have to go with a full bladder, I really hope I'm not sitting waiting with lots of pregnant ladies. That would really finish me off. It's bad enough to see the mums at my dd's music class all start bringing in their number 2's :(

Sounds like an ultrasound. And for me, yes, it involved sitting in the waiting room with loads of pregnant women. Niiiiiiiiiice one.

T2D hope you're feeling a little better now xxx

AFM - CD1 :( Going to be going in for my FSH test on Weds, then just waiting for the consultant and hopefully be starting IVF. I just can't see it happening any other way now. Every month the same old disappointment, frustration, anger and upset. Argh as if PMT isn't bad enough!

Please could I be updated on the list: Awaiting consultant appointment to begin IVF treatment

    Thank you xxx

Round here any private treatment means you're off the nhs list, but once again there seem to be massive regional differences in this.

For those of you who also have male factor problems, what (if anything) have you been told about frequency of sex?

We haven't been given any advice on this - just told that the SA results are always terrible so we need ICSI. But would be interested to hear if others in a similar situation have been given any info from the FS.

We have male factor problems (low count in all 3 areas) but the FS hasn't given us any advice, other than the usual "every 2-3 days" line. Interestingly the fertility clinic doesn't seem too bothered, they've said that male factor issues aren't much of a problem :-$ (not quite sure how they've worked that out??)

We've been following the SMEP advice for the last couple of months but that doesn't seem to have worked either :D

But in good news, 2 weeks tomorrow til our next FS appointment - where we've been told, they'll finally get the ball rolling with the IVF process :j

AFM at the moment: CD12 of our sixth clomid cycle...

Hugs and best wishes to all x
  • Our area is same as Rowingirl, you can go private first but then it counts towards your nhs 'entitlement'. I know it's crap waiting but good to save your self funding just in case you need it later (which hopefully you won't of course :D!) I think even if you don't have a full cycle still counts so good to check.

PM, sorry to hear still no news. What is the next step?

T2D, you deffo need a mental health day sometimes! Hope you've had a restful one.

Tea, I don't know how anyone finds the energy for every other day with so much going on? :rotfl:Am sat here in my joggers and granny slippers - lucky old DH!

AFM, am attending first NHS counselling session tomorrow so that will be interesting....

Skint cat, at our FS clinic they have their own dedicated scanning room and techs, so it's not always the case that you're limited in with the maternity lot. Once I got pg I was sent to a completely different area of the hospital for those scans. Makes much more sense imo! Just wanted to not fill you with utter dread :o

Code, not offering medical advice in the least :naughty: but I'm led to believe that one can take tramadol along side paracetamol/cocodamol and/or ibuprofen/other antiinflammatories... I'm led to believe the combination thereof changes the effects on the patient ;) In seriousness though, don't be surprised if they make you itch like a junky going cold turkey when they start to wear off... I've found immersion in the bath helps me the most with that particular side effect. Hth

T2d, it only applies in certain areas, like tea said, but also - if they were going to make a fuss in your particular case, they'd be mental. You can write to the funding body to over turn their decision in such a case, too. I don't think it would hold any water, if that's the route they tried to go down. After all, you probably saved the nhs a fortune by not having your cancer treatment with them in the first place :cool:

Morning everyone. Its been really helpful reading all your comments on private/NHS treatment.

I am speaking to my doctor tomorrow and I am going to ask her to refer me to the same FS but through the NHS system.

We are going to ask the FS on Thursday if undergoing private testing will impact on any future NHS fertility treatment.

I will let you know how I get on.

    Hope all is well xxxx

OH told me last night that he still doesn't actually think I was pg. Despite the many +ve tests, despite the evil m/c, despite the follow-up appts and letters which have discussed said m/c. He doesn't believe me. He also thinks that regardless of whether I was or not there is absolutely no point talking about any of it.

What can you say to that??
