T2D yes i did try Clomid but only ov once and then was moved on to Tamoxafin as I didn't react well at all to it. I'm up to 2 ampules of Menopur which will be increased to 2.5 tommorow,my clinic have said the max I can go up to is 4. I'm not sure what the next step will be if they pull the injections all together.
I really hope all goes well for you next week.0 -
Tea
Tricky one imo, but you don't seem happy at all with the first hosp and having confidence in the treatment is such a big part of it. I'm with you on the not wanting to wait any longer, all this uncertanity is a killer.0 -
I'm in a quandary again ladies.
Have spoken to the hospital and if we go for egg sharing it's going to be at least Spring next year before we can even start.
Have also heard back from the other possible clinic we were looking at and we'd need so much extra screening there (in addition to our notes from the first hosp) that we're still looking at months before anything happens.
This sounds so selfish but I just don't want to wait that long.
Which means we're now possibly looking at a fully self-funded ICSI cycle at around £4.5 - £6k.
Or maybe we should just wait?
Why does clinic one need you to wait until next Spring, tea? And why will the screening at clinic two take several months? Can everything not be done over a single cycle?
In the nicest possible wayin your shoes I would not put things on hold for 6 months if there was any way round it. IIRC you are going to be 35 in the next couple of months? The absolute cut off limit for egg sharing in any clinic in the UK is that you have to have the egg transferred before you turn 36. So if you don't plan to start until you are well past your 35th birthday, life doesn't have to throw many spanners or obstacles in your path before you are right up against that deadline.
Are there any creative ways round this? I know that you live far from clinics and that you work FT. Have you looked at clinics close to where family members or close friends live though? Would it be an option to take a month off unpaid and live elsewhere and do an eggsharing cycle there? Depending on how much you earn, that might still be a cheaper option than a £6k self funded cycle. Does the FS at clinic one run clinics anywhere else that you could use, and therefore transfer notes and test results? Or can you find another clinic who will use your test results from your current clinic?0 -
Ooh Nicki - good thinking outside the box there... will have a serious think about those ideas... thank you!
Clinic One have said it takes that long because of matching. Sounds odd but they have more sharers than people waiting for eggs (probably because of the funding issues I imagine). We'd have to go through the screening and counselling process, then wait for someone to be matched with us.
We couldn't even get in for an info session with the right person until December (grr!), then it would be months of waiting to see if anyone ever picks our eggs!
I haven't spoken to Clinic Two properly (just a few emails so far) so I have no idea why things would also take so long there. Maybe they have the same issue of too many donors. Their website does make a big deal of the fact that they have no waiting list for donor eggs. Maybe there's just too many eggs to go round these days!
You have remembered well.... I'm 35 in Jan, and have been seriously TTC since I was 29. I don't want to wait any longer. My EDD was Christmas day. I can't bear the thought that might come and go without us even having tried again, let alone actually being pg.0 -
There is a company/charity that advertises for egg donation (I can't remember the name) for people who struggle to get a match, like ethnic minorities who want a close egg match - or if you want someone with a cambridge education (seriously!).
Perhaps you could contact them and see if they are looking for your exact combination of beauty, brilliance and background? Could speed things up. It would help if I could remember the name... anyone have an idea? Must be the same company UK wide.0 -
Hey ladies, finally managed to speak to someone at the hospital about 20mins ago, who informed me that the secretary who could access blood results was on annual leave, and that the actual Dr, wouldn't be back in until Monday! And no one else could tell me!
I stamped my feet a little and said that was utterly ridiculous that no one in that department could even assure me that the blood test had been received by the hospital! So anyway, she goes off and gets someone else who tells me she has a letter that she's sending me out today, and she can read it to me over the phone if I want. Basically the letter says that the blood test results " suggest ovulation, but the result is still low and borderline, so they wanted me to increase the dose to 150mg next cycle. "
I came back on here to read what my dream was last night and it was that the result was exactly that!!! How strange!
In my haste I went and POAS after the phone call and it was of course a BFN - so even if I have ovulated I doubt it's given me my ultimate goal.
Never mind. Wait for AF to arrive now!
PM - has the bleeding stopped now? Xxx0 -
Mrs davo how stupid it takes so much just to find out what's happening with our own bodies.i hope your more successful with 150mg. The bleeding hasn't stopped and tmi is bright red
I can't get hold of my fs either so guess I have to wait and see what tommorow brings.

I'm so sorry PM that its not worked! I think it's disgusting that you can't get hold of anyone either!
Don't they realise how important this is to us? I just had a bit of a fit on the phone to them and said it was really important that I know the results as I'm stressing about it, and I do not want to have to wait all weekend to know!
Seems like half the time we are just another number to them, but this is our lives and our bodies!
Are you due back in for a scan tomorrow?
T2D - exciting about your appointment! And well done on losing the weight!
Tea - what a choice! If I was in your shoes and had the money I would pay for my own cycle now.
Sewit - I'm sorry your having to listen to that - it's so painful isn't it. Bet you just wanted to scream " Shut up!!! "0 -
Thanks mrs d feel so annoyed that after over a month of injections hardly anything has happened. My fs said we needed to carry on otherwise we would lose the cycle but the bleedings not stopping despite the injections. I'm not sure if another increase will stop it but I fear not.how hard can it be to get 1 damn egg, that's all I want, just a chance, just for once some hope that maybe just maybe we could be pg:( got another scan tommorow. Doesn't help my fs gives one word answers0
