Hi Tea Lover. At my clinic they say the drugs cost between £600 / £1800 depending on individual needs. I'm about to start my cycle shortly and my drugs were delivered on Saturday. They cost £716 (to be precise!). The clinic told me this was a normal amount of drugs for someone of my age (35) with no particular issues.

Oh and I'm going to be on 225 of Gonal f (I think) - don't know if that costs about the same as menopur? Short protocol too.

    Hope that helps xx

    Tea,

I know this sounds odd, but have you looked at doing a full 6 month course of Accupuncture? If you are going to wait the 6 month anyway, you can do it with the full smelly tea course and there are miracles. And it's much cheaper!

My acupuncturist has many testimonials from people who tried multiple IVF tries and failed. I don't think it's that helpful if the problem is with your partner, but worth a go if you are waiting anyway. I really believe it massively helped my ICSI as they doc told me with my AMH I should expect 3-4 eggs, and we got 11 with 9 fertilized.

I'll be back on Acupuncture in the next few weeks, even though I will have to actively avoid BD on the right days. It will help with the IVF, and who knows, hopefully it will work without IVF. Plus it's nice and relaxing.

And take the full time job, if you change your mind you can always quit!

Iv'e got 6 days to waiting for a scan to see if the Tamoxafin is working, itching to know. The first time I had it nothing happened so the dose has been upped. I know with Clomid I 'knew' I was going to ov before the scans but i'm not sure I feel ov coming.

Tea - also don't forget that the additional blood tests during the cycle are chargable.

I had a blood test every visit, and I think they were £50 each visit. Plus you may need to do the full round of pre-IVF tests again (HIV, Hep B, Full blood count, smear) but I could do these through my GP with enough planning.

T2D, that's fantastic news that you can re-start your treatment in June. Next month!!!! I've been following your story on here whilst lurking and wish you soooooo much luck with everything.

AFM: Well I'm waiting for my period to start which I think will be next week, and then it's all systems go with starting the IVF (and possible ICSI if they decide to do that too. I can't believe it's actually going to start next week. It's really kind of snuck up on me in a way, even though we've been waiting/planning/saving for ages. I'm petrified, but also kind of feeling full of fighting spirit and raring to go now, which I guess is good.

Thank you xx I'm working hard to make the PMA outweigh the terrified-ness, although its not always easy. I think I'm most scared of the sedation for the EC, as I've never had a general anaesthetic or anything like that in my life.

That's the best bit! I love GA :D. It's like the loveliest sleep, but it feels like you wake up straight away. Very hard to explain but it really is great lol. I've been a huge fan of anaesthetic since my first laparoscopy.
