Do Something Amazing- Give Blood

I've donated blood once and would love to get back to it but I have a 3YO and every seesion seems to be at the wrong timing for his nursery.
He only goes for 2 and a half hours and the centre is 30 minute walk away, so time would be minimal could anyone advise how to book a seesion I'm in Scotland BTW.
3 of us went along and only I was allowed to donate, one of my friend's was sent away because 'the acne on his face was too pussey' and the other was not allowed because he is gay!
Some of the rules are rediculous and do more harm than good.:ADon't regret the things you've done, regret the things you have'nt!!!:A0 -
Oh, thaks for reminding me about this
I've given blood three times before, over three years ago, and not since then because I keep being pierced and tattooed in less-than-six-month intervals, but it's been well over that since my last one. Getting one for my birthday on the 20th though so going to see if there's any donation sessions near me before then.
I think it's an amazing thing to do, I hate needles too (piercing needles are different) and I can't look at it when it's being done, plus no matter how long I sit down for afterwards, as soon as I get about five mins away from the place I go all funny and need to sit down again. I'm a B Positive, which makes me smile

I am currently barred from donating due to the tablets I am on but hope to get back soon.0 -

I just looked up to see when it's next in my area and there's one in November. Trouble is it's a few days short of the three month waiting period. I last donated on 7 August and this is on 2 November. Does anyone know if it has to be exactly three months to the day before they'll let you donate again?
Otherwise I'll have to wait till January0 -
It's normally four months between donations. (Three times a year.)You would have been sent your session letter if they were expecting you.

Bad news today, the medication to control my diabetes has been changed so I will need to wait at least 3 more months before I can donate again.
I am still hopefull of getting back in the chair but I feel a bit hard done by that I have already missed 6 donations this year.0 -
Went to donate today, 26th pint
. I was looking at my piece of paper while I was waiting for a couch and in the bit where it says 'no of donations' it said 38....... apparently the computers for the different areas in Scotland have been merged and the donations I had on the Glasgow area computer have been added (to the North of Scotland one that I've been using since I left Glasgow). But then the nurse who was telling me took them off again! :S Anyone know anything about that?
Plus I had a bit of a bleed getting up off the couch today, first time since I was in Glasgow about 1996. However, all's OK now.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!
