Do Something Amazing- Give Blood

Would love to give blood but too young, is the age limit 17 or 18? If it's 17 only a year and a bit to go
In the meantime I will try to get my parents to donate :rotfl:
Also I'm on iron supplements and it looks like I always will be  does anyone know if this would effect me being allowed to donate?
Thanks0 -
First timer here, my appointment is a week on thursday. It's another thing giving up smoking has enabled me to do.
I didn't realise until I made the appointment that they would have taken my blood anyway, but always thought they wouldn't want my carbon monoxide riddled blood before.Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
Well done shimmershelly on givingup smoking and donating your first "pint" of blood.
I've just been for my 16th donation and am feeling a bit miffed. I didn't manage to part with a full bag for some reason. I think I start off ok but the flow got too slow for some reason and they abandoned the idea eventually. I'm miffed as no explanation was forthcoming as to why this may have happened. At my 14th donation I was practically congratulated on my good flow rate, the 15th went a bit slow towards the end but a complete bag was given up in the end.
They seemed happy to offer me a further appointment in 16 weeks, so hopefully if there's anything wrong I'll get a letter.:wave:0 -
Off to give a pint in a bit. :j
I had a lady say thank you to me last week for being a blood doner. I was surprised and to be honest a little embarrassed. It has never happened before and I don't do it looking for praise. As it turns out she wouldn't have been alive if it hadn't been for the blood transfusions she received.
So from her and me 'Thank You :T' to everyone who gives blood now or has done in the past.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I have been donating on and off ever since I was 19, due to pregnancies and illness and sadly, my signature is true, only 6% of the eligible population gives blood.
A+
You still giving blood frizz?0 -
Had my 3rd donation today, as usual I felt a bit sick towards the end of my donation, always feel a bit of a plank lying down having water given to me through a straw! BUT, that said, I always feel looked after. They never let me have tea though, as I always feel funny... cold drink only.
I did notice that at least 3 people dealt with me during the donation, whereas before it was only 1.
My dad has donated countless pints, and I hope to do the same. Mum had a blood transfusion after having me so cannot donate, so me and Dad will have to try to convince my sister, which will be a difficul task indeed!!!
I hope to donate for as long as I can, even with the sicky feeling!!!

I've only donated 4 times so far, I've been put on a year break due to low heamoglobin (sp) levels. I can go back in December though
