Do Something Amazing- Give Blood

I too have had open surgery and my zipper (as I call it) is an inch below my belly button. My sister had key hole surgery and we called her's press studs. (Family thing.
:rotfl:)
If I remember rightly it was six month before I could give blood again.

mine too all 7 inches:mad:Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
OH and I are going to give blood for the first time on Tues."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Did my bit just yesterday !
Bit of advice -- if you can't remove that horrible anti-coagulating whatever plaster from your skin, jump in the shower, the water will take it right off with no stickiness... AND NO PAIN !
Yesterday I joined bone marrow register as well... Well proud of myself ! I haven't been in need for blood, but accidents do happen, and I know that if one day I need some kind of transfusion, I will be well happy that someone has made the effort to donate blood for me...0 -
Was looking over the questions they ask you and was wondering about a couple of things if anyone can give me any help it'd be appreciated.
1. It asks if you've taken any medication in the past week, if I had a couple of ibuprofen on Thurs when I'm going on Tues would it affect my ability to give blood?
2. It asks for allergies, I have a food allergy (lime), but no others, would that be a problem?"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Food allergies - nothing to worry about, they are looking for medical related allergies.0 -
after years of thinking giving blood was the right thing to do, i actually got my butt into gear and donated for the 1st time last week. of course, u hear all the stories about fainting etc and i was a bit weary to begin with. i didnt know what to expect, whether i would feel dizzy, whether they'd find a vein, if the needle would hurt..... soon as i got to the place all doubts had gone and the actual process of giving blood was 'a doddle'. i know all ppl are different but tbh, i found the pin !!!!! on my finger was sharper than the needle in the arm. im left with a 2" bruise but i can handle that and ive made my appointment for when they're next in town.
left the building very satisfied.
everyone in a position to give blood should.
