Sheesh - take a chill pill!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Well I say go on Hol and have a fantastic time, we went to Canada for our honeymoon and I loved it.
17 years you deserve a break and ignore some very silly people on here.

I would go, because I think you are too long dead, but I would want a three month emergency fund and/ or a plan B, such as you working full time when you come back if the recession does affect his work.0

Which incidentally isn't even the reason the OP posted. I find it incredible in these boards that someone will post a question and merely mention a passing fact, then someone will jump on a tiny insignificant fact and blow it up.
Different families work in different ways and what works for one won't work for another.
It does seem like everything anyone says about anything is up for scrutiny!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

If your husband is working call out seven days a week then frankly I think he needs the break. And you need some time to reconnect as a couple. I speak as the grass widow of a self employed man
we just had a few days away and it honestly felt like the first time we'd had a proper talk in ages. So I can see why you'd feel you want to go, never mind the whole family considerations.
But like primrose I think it's worth being sure there's enough tucked away to tide you over for a rainy day. The kitchen can wait as long as it's functional!0 -
I have a sence of humour thanks. Read through the ops posts again! She's conning him into something he doesnt want to do because he'll lose money being away from work and can't afford it right now.
I suspect hes more then capable of deciding what to do
you take this posting malarky far too seriously :rotfl:Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
I heard someone swearing at their kids in the supermarket on Monday night. Hardly the crime of century either, but it doens't make it right.
And they didn't mention it as a "passing fact", they highlighted it as evidence to support their stance on their parenting skills. Teaching a child to speak to anyone in such an insulting manner is setting them up for failure in later life. I'd like to see how funny a future employer would find such behaviour.
Bring your children up with respect and teach them respect in turn.
It really depends on how it is said and in what context ? you really have a strange idea as to what constitutes good parenting skills ..................I'm sure we all fall short sometimesVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

Don't talk rot.
Calling someone a name like "div" is insulting. If it wasn't, I'd be calling you one. Calling someone any kind of name that ridicules them is insulting.
No wonder this country is going down the bleeding pan."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Go on holiday. A little "couple" time will do you the world of good0

Where (roughly) in Canada and the US?
What time of year?
Go if it's going to be wonderful, but don't do it out of a sense of duty cos family is getting on a bit and it might be your last chance to see them while they're still fit and healthy, ifswim.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
