Good for you, for standing your ground. The time comes, eventually, when they have to realise that when we say we have no money, we really do have no money!

    Stay strong xx

baby steps el - one thing I HAVE learned from my time on MSE is that I can't be all things at all times....sometimes it is enough of a job to do one thing, and to do it properly than to try and do everything and actually achieve nothing.

I now feel I am in control of our finances - they are not perfect but they no longer take up every minute working out how the heck we will get through.......so now I can start on trying to get in control of the next area of my life......

I have decided to get to grips with the house, hence the decluttering and housework, and have finally started to see a bit of progress. When I am in control of that, I will then make more of an effort on the health and weight bit, which at the moment is very much out of control!

I think some of it is we don't value ourselves enough! We should! But since we can't do everything sometimes we take the past of least resistance on some things so we can focus on the critically urgent!

you may have a point there saving ....we could be putting ourselves last cause we know we wont moan about it ...

well i think the gauntlet has been thrown down ...went to the soup kitchen to do our monthly shift hubby bought a chicken to feed the people that come in ...i dont have a problem with this if we can afford it ...but when money is tight i think it is a bit unfair of him ...it's not like we are expected to spend money anyway ...the kitchen supply tins etc for us to use (but we do prefer to take a home made cooked meal in) ...then he came out of the soup kitchen and said i am starving and promptly went to the chippy spending more money ...it's like he is trying to prove to me that he will spend money if he wants ...but wait till that money all runs out ...i can imagine you will all be able to hear the shouting ...and you know what i aint backing down this time ...we have no more money we can transfer ...nothing and i aint getting more into debt that i am already ..

will let you all know how it goes ...

anyone wanna start a bet on how long the money will last?

I can't really add to what Hypno and Saving said as I agree with everything you all say.

I too am liking the new tougher Elantan..so go you and do not back down.He will have to face the consequences when the money runs out.

I think until it runs out and there is no more he will think that you will magic it from somewhere like you normally would!!!..BUT...he will have to learn quick sharp when there isn't any money there and suffer.

well i had a sneak look at the tub today...hubby has managed to spend £15 in just one day ...the atmosphere in the house is terrible but i am sticking to my guns and riding the storm if i back down now i am making a rod for my own back ....boy i really wish i had this change in attitude for the health i really do ...but i am glad that atleast in this area i have it ...

and what saving said in relation to where we put ourselves is pottering away in the background of my mind and sorting itself out ...i actually feel sometimes like i can see the cognative shift coming(i have been wanting this one for a long long time ...infact every review i do it is top of the list) ...so i try and grasp it ...and in doing so send it miles backwards...

ok scratchies done day at uni done banks looked at were further into the red with ddm's coming out but no more money has been lifted and determination in check ...i kinda feel this time like when we do get out of debt i will be stronger in staying out of debt and paying off the mortgage etc ....

ok am away back to see if i can find this cognative shift ...if anyone see's it floating about chuck it my way please

    hope your all good

You are absolutely right not to back down over this, and I will go as far to say that if you DO back down, I will be very very cross with you  So, you had better watch out :rotfl:

Talking about cognitative shifts.......I am on day two of flylady  In my decluttering I have rediscovered "the book" and will start reading it again :rotfl:
