Thanks for your replies I know its best to wait until your late but I have so little patience. Only 2nd month of trying so not expecting good news yet but you never know although it did take 9 months of trying with my daughter so will probably be here for a while yet.

    Hi Hobo,

Do you know when AF is due? Is it soon?? You could always try a cheapy test beforehand. I do't thik I could wait - I'm way too impatient!!

Hi I have been lurking here for the past couple of months but haven't posted yet, just wondering if anyone tests before there AF due or does everyone wait until they are late? Only asking because I know what I should do but hearing it from other people might help!!
    Thanks

Its recommended you wait until your expected AF day to test, though the FR/Clearblue tests say they can detect up to 6 days early. It all depends on you, some people find it easier psychologically (and :money:) to wait until AF shows. It can be much easier to see AF than to see a BFN month after month..

I test on the expected day of AF or the day before using ultra-sensitive tests because I think my luteal phase (LP) is too short to sustain a pg, therefore I want to know if I *ever* get pg so I can have all the info for the GP.

I've just starting using those ovulation sticks, the cheapy ones from ebay, to test when is the best sort of time to try and start making babies..... but I did a test on 12th day and there were 2 lines but it was too light to be a positive, have tested on day 13 and twicce on day 14 and nothing.... no second line at all. I know its early days but the tests are supposed to tell me that I'm likely to ovulate within the next 36 hours but according to my body I'm not going to...... although from what I've read ovulation is between roughly day12 to day 18 ish give or take.... So I don't understand why nothing is coming up. Someone please help am going crazy already.Missy x

I have used OPKs (Ovulation Prediction Kits - ov sticks) numerous times and I think I got one proper positive in about 3 months. However, I'm charting my temps and using a fertility monitor so I *know* I've ov'd (had the blood tests to prove it too ;)) So, my conclusion is that if you get the timing slightly out you can miss the surge. Its best to test twice a day and to properly reduce your drinking so your sample's not too dilute. I could never manage that as I'm a thirsty girl  :rotfl: and I think that can scupper you seeing a line...

Also ov can be days 10-21 or vary even more (I've had ov on cd13 and cd 22 ) , if you have a 28-day cycle, they say to start poas for ov on day 10...

I have another question :o. So you have your ovulation/fertility days which give you the best chance to conceive. But once these days are over, do you still actively BD until AF arrives, or is there no chance once you have passed ovulation stage. Just want to make sure I don't wear DH out in the first month . Currently on CD13, so I'm kind of in the right time lol

We bd throughout the month, trying for every other day then everyday around ov, but it all depends what else is going on! :p The medical peeps will say to just have sex 3 times a week throughout the month, which is good advice.

We often stop after ov for a couple of days (esp. after having done it 12 days on the trot one month - needed a break!! :o) but regular sex can help to regulate your cycles and doing it after ov helps your OH feel less like a baby-making machine and more like your lover ;)

Ooh, and hello newbies :hello: hope you're not here too long (in the nicest possible way of course!)

Hello portsmouthali gave me a link to this thread, I'll be lurking for a bit and not actively trying for a little while. like so many others on here I was on the pregnancy thread but got the bad news on Monday that there is no heartbeat. I had already had an early scan that showed a heartbeat so they knew it was bad news. I'm just waiting for it to happen naturally at the moment whilst being in complete denial. I had a mc in june 2008 as well and it took us a little while to both get over that so we didnt start trying until about 6 months later, we both feel we would like to try again already this time but obviously have to wait. We already have 2 children together and its them that keep me going.

Well thats my story, I just cant wait to get this bit out the way so we can start trying again and hopefully be sucessful this time. It took over 3 years to fall with my first although we spent the whole time happy to wait and see and actually got to the point we thought it wouldnt and we would go to the docs when we got desparate but then it happened when we least expected, we were lucky to meet young so had time. The docs now are not worried they say we have no problems getting pregnant and i have carried to term so should be able to again I just find it odd to have lost 2 in a row.

Welcome to more newbies, I can't keep up with it all! Sorry to hear so many of you are joining us for sad reasons rather than happy ones.
I was going to comment on the ov sticks but bitzer basically said it all. I tried ov sticks for about 6 months and never once got a positive! If you have been testing in the morning with them it could be that you had a true positive later that day and missed it on the sticks. I like bitzer now use the clearblue fertility monitor. Not very MSE but we'd been trying for 18 months when we bought it and I have other medical problems which affect my ov so for me it's added reassurance that meds are doing what they're supposed to!
Speaking of which Bitzer are we cycle buddies still? I'm on my 3rd day of high now which I'm hoping is going to mean a nice normalish ov this month!

    Morning Ladies,

I think Bitzer has answered most of the queries better than I could.
on the question of testing, I am one of those that waits a week after AFs due before testing as a BFN upsets me alot more than AF arriving.
If you are going to test early, ensure you use an ultra-sensitive one as the accuracy decreases the earlier you test.

As for bding, we tend to do it whenever we feel like it (a little more often around Ov of course) as my OH feels like a donor otherwise.

Welcome to the newbies and congrats to the BFP.

As for me, OH and I have decided to put TTC on hold for now, too much going on and I was getting far too stressed out around AF time. So am just waiting for the witch to make an appearance then Im on hold! Typically she is late, now on CD34 of a normal 28 day cycle and waiting.

Am not sure if I will post on here again, though I am likely to check up on you all, but will take this opportunity to thank you girls.
Confuzzled - I will always remember the virtual slap you gave me for ss-ing,
Bitzer your advise on OV has been wonderful - never knew about EWCM before!
The knitting and jewellery designs were a great time out from TTC madness.

For everyone else who has advised and helped me keep sane, thanks.

Good luck all, and I hope when my journey resumes, that you will all be on another thread (meant in the nicest way of course). x
  • Hi everyone, and nice to meet all the new people! Sorry to hear the sad stories though, there seems to be so many of us experiencing the same sort of thing! Keep your chins up and you'll get through it! 3rd day back now and have had a bit of a wobble already this morning! Can't wait for the weekend already!
Thought the bleeding had stopped, but alas no! But its only a little bit so I'm hoping there's nothing to worry about!
I don't know how any of you guys can wait until the "test" day, i am possibly the most impatient person ever! Me and hubby did 6 tests when we found out! Just to make sure!!!
I'm a bit like you Lauralou, not too sure when I OV, especially at the mo, just want the bleeding to completely stop so we can start BDing again! Do you think its too soon to think about ttc again? See what I mean about being impatient!!
Sticky baby dust to all! x

  • I'm sitting here in shock.... Just taken a test and it's positive. Half of me (and DH too) is jumping for joy:j, and the other half is just terrified I'm going to mc again. Like last time, my only pg symptom is a lack of AF, and perhaps having felt very tired for a few days at the beginning of last week. Other than that, nothing:confused:. Guess there's nothing to do but wait and see what happens, with as much PMA as possible. Third time lucky...?
