Hi there!
I'm not a regular (very occasional lurker....) and this is a bit of a moneysaving question too...
I had an mc back in March and been ttc since then, but have been quite frustrated as my cycle has gone all irregular and still not back to normal. (I've had a scan and apparently everything looks fine)
So I've decided it's time to start trying to really monitor my cycle/ovulation. (This has actually made me feel a bit better as I've got the illusion I'm a bit more in control of my life:rolleyes:)
Today I bought a thermometer from the chemist, but I wonder if it's accurate enough - it's a digital one that will give tenths of a centigrade.
Is that accurate enough? I've also been reading on tinternet about checking your cervix.
Does anyone do anything to check when you're ovulating? Or do you feel it? I don't feel a thing!0 -

Hi im afraid im not much help but im like you i dont know about my cycle now, as i stopped bleeding on saturday/sunday from my mc so i dont know when my cycle starts0 -
(pops out from working hard and lurking) Alex - You may pick up your change in BBT with that thermometer, it will just be a small change though. A Fahrenheit one detects a larger change as the scale is smaller than centigrade. But it should work ok both ways.
The key with BBT charting is consistency, you need to take it at the same time every day with the same/similar amount of sleep before. I take mine at 6:45 (then go back to sleep for a bit!;))
I check my cervix (texture, position and opening) and my cm (cervical mucus) to track ovulation and fertile times. I usually do this in the shower (one leg up on the side of the bath) again, at the same-ish time of day. Your cervix can move up and down during the day so by checking at the same time every day you remove ambiguity.
I also get ov pains most months so I can tell when I've ov'd. Before I started this ttc lark I don't think I'd have dreamed I'd know so much about my chuff and its daily doings! :rotfl:Never argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.0 -
Thanks bitzer!
Luckily I'm quite a regular sleeper, so that part should be OK. I also didn't think there were new things to learn about down-there after all these years!
I'm not in the UK (I live in Holland), so it might be difficult to find a farenheit thermometer. I did see one on Amazon, but the post was quite expensive. And I got distracted by all those multipacks with ovulation and pregnancy tests...
OK! Just went back to Amazon and ordered a thermometer (to 2 decimal places in farenheit) that comes with 10 ovulation tests and 10 early pregnancy tests. It was only 8.98 with the post, which was much cheaper than the other things I looked at. Just hope it doesn't get too held up by the postal strike!0
