Ooooooh cheesecake! That sounds yummy!!!!
Glam - I'm being induced on 29 July (if I don't go into labour before that). I am sooooo looking forward to having the baby, even if it is a bit of a queue jump (sorry!!). We're doing the curry and fresh pineapple tonight and did a whole bunch of walking today, so doing everything I can to move things along! lol How's the GD stuff going for you - is it getting a little bit easier?
ah there u are! so you are being induced a week early, you just control your GD with diet don't you?
It's going OK, had a few high readings again after breakfast the last few days so might have to up to 10 units of insulin from Monday if tomorrow's reading is higher than 7.8 (today was 7.7 but I think my sugars were really low to begin with as I got up really late!)
I've been reading about inducing labour and it seems that the only reason it could turn into a section is because the cervix is still too thick so have been looking into ways of thinning my cervix in preparation. I think I'll make a start at 36 weeks on it and then hopefully I'll either go into labour myself by 37 weeks or at least my cervix will be thin enough for me to go when I'm induced.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Hi ladies
I haven't migrated to the parenting thread yet - I'm struggling to find the time to log on at all!
Caitlyn is just gorgeous and I promise I'll post some pics when I get chance. The thing I'm most pleased about is - I'M STILL BREASTFEEDING!!! I managed a week with DS because it hurt so much. It's going so well this time - I'm not afraid to go anywhere in case she needs feeding. I feel generally more relaxed.
Just a quick question for the others who have given birth but are still on here - did you get days when you were very emotional? I looked at Caitlyn yesterday and just couldn't believe that everything I had gone through had produced something so wonderful. I started crying and couldn't stop. I'm dreading when hubby is back at work next week and I'm sorting out DS and the baby on my own. His school don't break up until next Friday.
Think li'l lady is hungry - congratulations to those who have given birth, and labour vibes to all who need them,

Yeah, I'm just lurking...not feeling 100% today - got a cold
Got up at 9 and went back to before for a couple of hours this afternoon whilst hubby went kick boxing. Paracetamols are helping but not clearing the fuzzy headness.
Managed to put a wash on and do an Asda shop - stocked up on ingredients to do some batch cooking, but can't be bothered now. Might just have to have chilli, spag bol for teas the next couple of nights so that I can add the rest to the freezer.
Mmm, need to eat but don't feel like it!
ETA - I've got a wriggly bubs again today0 -
Aw pinkpig - glad things are going well for you. Well done to both you and Caitlyn with the breastfeeding :T0

Glam - yes, GD for me was diet controlled. Hopefully once you get to a point with the insulin where it keeps it under control, it will plateau for a bit, so you don't have to keep changing it so much. Have they said if they're going to definitely induce you and when? My consultant said if I'd been on insulin, I would be induced at 38wks. It's a little nerve wracking, as it's normal to worry about complications due to induction, I think, but it's great to think "ahhh but I won't have to go 2 wks overdue like I did when pregnant with DD!" And it greatly reduces the chance of having a huuuuge baby, I think!
After reading the booklet they gave me on induction, they do the gel, wait 6 hours to see if it responds, then do it once more, then wait overnight, and do it once more if need be. Last time (with DS2) it only took one dose, and the contractions came on gradually and were actually quite manageable for the most part, for which I was profoundly grateful! lol My understanding is that the gel stuff generally brings labour on more gradually, whereas the drip sort of "catapults" you into labour, which is where there is a higher risk of complications. If you're looking at softening the cervix, to prepare for induction, I've seen some reference to evening primrose oil capsules doing this - you could ask your midwife or consultant about this. I've been bouncing on a fitness ball (verrrrrry graceful looking, let me tell ya!) as it's supposed to put you in the right position to encourage the baby to go into a good position as well as move towards engaging.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
pink - not given birth but I would imagine that is totally normal
NMS - ah soz you're not feeling great. I'm having spag bol again tonight cos I was too lazy to go to ASDA and get the stuff I need to make my famous chilli!

yeah, you get the baby blues from 3-7 days (usually) afterwards and all you do is howl, for no reason! Sometimes it lasts a day, sometimes it's random.
I felt fine but the tears were just pouring down my face, both times! Jjust go with it, it's a hormone thing (and not to worry it is not a sign that you will get PND or anything).0 -
TMI, I had a rummage down there and my cervix is flat from what I can feel, flush against the wall and not sticking out. So that must be a good sign?0

No idea Tia. I have never tried to feel mine and have no idea what it's up to!
i just walked into town for my pethidine and it hasn't come! They were very apologetic and said they'd drop it in to me when it does arrive, but that won;t be before Monday so if I go into labour over the rest of the weekend it will be too late.
On the plus side, the rain has held off all day, OH has nearly finished the garage door, and I've washed and dried two loads of washing, with a third finishing off in the machine now.
So all the nappies and clothes are ready so baby can come any time it wants! :T:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
