DS2 got the flu jab this year (or last) because he had pneumonia and recurrent chest infections if that helps. He can ask his GP and even pay for it himself (my FIL pays for it himself but gets it at the GP surgery).
I was wondering where you were!
The problem with paying for it is that we order enough for all our over 65's and at risk patients so we only allow patients to pay for it towards the end of the flu season - December/January as we have an obligation to give it to those at risk first. I think the uptake will be huge this year - last year we only vaccinated 74% of our over 65's and at risk.
As for swine flu we've not had the guidance on that yet but it will be the at risk people first then everyone else - the at risk groups for swine flu are different to those for seasonal flu.
I was told today that apparently the elderly population will have anti-bodies from the last flu outbreak so might not be at risk of swine fluA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

I guess some of these people may have bought stuff they now now longer need (there may be debt involved) but are in a situation where they can't keep control of their home environment for whatever reason - I guess it jars a bit as you can't help setting what you have and what they have against each other - hence the guilt
It really bugs me when friends say they can't afford x or that they're poor when that's not actually the case. I've seen poor in these ppl's houses and believe me, that is NOT the same as where my friends and family are. They're not rich, some aren't even 'comfortable' but it's still a world away from poor. I guess I'm just very conscious of what I have, and that what I have is partly my own work, but is also a result of things completely outside my control, like who my parents are, how they brought me up and the education I had access to. It's humbling to think about it, but we do need to sometimes...MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

My free cycle group is all want want want its like the same people again and again. I get the impression they're just sitting there thinking, what can I ask for now??
Its annoying aswell that everyone seems to give to the first email, I missed out on a boat last week, by about 5 mins. OH would love a boat lol
Had the most frustrating 2 and a half hrs on the River Island website trying to get sale stuff for DD birthday in Sept, kept crashing when I tried to pay and then empting my basket. Was ready to cry when it finally went through! Got nearly £400 worth of stuff for £150 so worth a look if anyone likes RI stuff.0 -
csh - there are some breathtakingly cheeky requests - once there was an email that basically asked for everything to equip a flat! It sparked quite a furore!
And then there are the ones where there is a suspicion they're selling on, which is a total no-no in my book.MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

Hey girls,
I'm back! I went in to the labour ward on Monday lunchtime after calling them and being told to come and and be checked, they decided that because I was getting a little bleeding and it was so soon after my last bleed that they'd like me to stay in, the on and off light bleeding continued over night on Monday and finally stopped on Tuesday morning. They need to me to be bleed free for 24 hours before they would let me out though so they finally let me go this morning.
It's so lovely to be home, I was in a bed next to a lady who was also having bleeding and was due the same time as me, she'd been there for 3 weeks and was being put in for c-section next week so it did make me count myself lucky that mine seems to be behaving a bit better.
Hope you're all been well, I see that Tara had her gorgeous baby girl and that Elle finally got Rhys home, shame to see her finally retire from the thread but i'm so pleased that everything has gone so well for them!
Right i'm off to try and find me some food, i think some ice cream would be a good start!0 -
Just because we are talking about it I checked my yahoo mails and the first one was: wanted exercise bike for my home loft gym! !!!!!!??
I wouldn't have the brass neck to actually ask for anything, I usually just offer and occasionaly reply if its something I really want but never been succesful (still mourning the boat)0 -
