Tink, that is horrible news hun! Is there anyone else who can go with FIL?

Tia - The only person I can think of is my sister so I might give her a ring to see if she can go with him. Both DH and I feel awful as we think we should be there for him but obviously there's nothing we can do

    evening all,

bit of a pants day today, basically my FIL (for those who remember we nearly lost him just after Xmas) got rushed into hospital again late last night. The long and the short of it is they think his pacemaker is not working - not great as it was only fitted in Feb!

DH is beside himself as the only family he has is me and his dad and what with me having the sweep yesterday and me definately being induced on Sunday is worried that he'll have an emergency call to go to the other hospital where his dad is and he'll have to leave me or make a choice on what to do.

We didn't leave there until the middle of the night and have just got back now again and I feel gutted and can't stop crying. He's already housebound and can't walk so it looks like he's not going to be able to see his first grandchild for weeks. Also to make matters worse they asked if one of us could go with him on Monday where he has to be xfered to another hospital for an appointment with the cardiologist and I just burst into tears with the nurse as all I can think is no I'll be in labour - I feel terrible but I want DH with me and he's just so worried he's going to miss the birth.

I'm sat here crying my eyes out wondering why does everything happen at once

Omg, Tinkerbell, that puts everyone else's worries into perspective. Big hugs to you and your OH as you clearly need them.

Is there any way at all that the hospital would change the date of your induction given the circumstances? If they would agree to start you off tomorrow, you should have given birth by Monday, even if things are a bit slow, and whilst its not ideal for OH to be leaving you for a day when the baby is only a day or two old, at least he could take a photo with him to show grandpa and keep his spirits up on what could be a stressful day. And in years to come you might be very glad that he did. These are very very exceptional circumstances and you just might find someone who is willing and able to change the timetable in the face of them.

Otherwise I'm happy to say a little prayer for you that you go into labour spontaneously tonight or tomorrow, following your sweep, so that you have all the support you need.

Aw Tink big hugs! Like NIcki said - is there no way you could explain the situation to your hospital with the posibilty of them starting you early. You did mention they had concerns about your little one and a stressed mummy isn't going to help things progress.

It will ask you for certain months pay and that is how it calculates it so if you did get a bonus then I suppose it could be included. I'm not sure but you could ring the NI helpline at HMRC - they are very helpful!

Well after having a read it looks like any pay i received during the 15wks before my mat leave get counted so basically 03/04 to the 30/05 so yea i would get the bonus included, i wont count on it will calculate on just 90% of normal rate the if i get the extra it can be put away for a rainy day :-)

just had this emailed to me - it's probably got some unnecessary stuff on it but you might see something you want to pack that you hadn't thought of. Having a look thru birth plan one now

Thanks all - do you think the hospital might bring the induction forward a day? I'm up there tomorrow morning to be monitored again at 10am so I might ask then if there's any possibilty of bring things forward to tomorrow night, as a couple of people have said that way at least DH could go with him.

I'm just so worried that he'll get worse as when he was rushed in last time we were called in 3 times and asked to let them stop treatment and I think that's all that's going through mine and DH's mind is what happens if that happens again?
