My fiance proposed on Monday (I accepted)!! :j

I'm elated and the ring is lovely but I feel he over paid for it cos he got it from Goldsmiths (no vouchers or anything). He's willing to go to Hatton Gardens on saturday though he went already and said he didnt find anything he liked and he didnt trust them making a ring and would like to simply see what he was paying for instead of ordering and hoping it comes out right..

Is the mark up at Goldsmiths that high? We're going to the states in Nov and I wonder whether to get it from there, or go to Italy?? My Dad is going to Dubai in Nov and I'm wondering whether to source it from there, but I think my finace will like us to pick it together.

    Thanks for your help.

If you are going to the states then definately wait until you are there to have a look. My other half bought his ex's ring in the uk then took her to new york to propose it was only once he was there he found he could have bought a ring 3 x the carrat weight and much better quality for what he paid here. Dubai used to be very good for gem stones my father bought all my mother Gems stones over there when he worked on the pipelines many moons ago not sure what its like now though i would guess with all the tourism prices may be inflated. My father found buying rings /set jewlery was expensive out there so he just bought the stones then had them set in the jewelery quarter back here. :-)

I guess it will depend on how long we have to stay in afterwards - if I get a 6hr discharge I won't get a lot. I'd probably want to stay overnight - but if there's any problems then I'll need to stay longer. Will just make sure I've got stuff ready at home for OH to bring in! Don't want him bringing in my black skinny jeans for going home in do I?! :rotfl:

i would prefer to stay in overnight and think as well with my BP condition i will be monitored as bit longer. so i have packed as if i will be there for 3 days.
doesnt matter if i am home earlier.
will leave a few things for hubby as well just in case

grr - damn u for being ready before me!
harley - make me feel better, have u packed urs yet?

My plan is to go to Peacocks this weekend or next week, get my nighties and sensible PJ's, dressing gown and then get my mat knickers and breast pads from ASDA. Then go somewhere to get a nice little suitcase for my stuff.

I plan to have a labour bag, post delivery bag (which will stay in car and can then be swapped with labour bag) and baby bag.
Have I 'eck!!! In my defense, I have made a list, and I have been meaning to do it all for the last 2 weeks, but not yet. been too busy resting as per mw orders. Think I have everything to put in it though.
