Newbie Maz- I'm having my 4d scan tommorow night, been deciding for ages whether to have one or not and today I bit the bullet and booked it..£135 for 20 min scan,2 blk and white pics, 4 colour pics and a full growth report. Not bad I don't think compared to some prices Ive seen for the same thing!
love my little man he is amazing :j

3 - my surgery doesn't have any midwives...my MWs come from a local 'group' that I think all the GPs in the area pool from. Or something similar...

Ditto- MW only at my surgery one and a half days a week.

Hello everyone, it has taken me soooo long to catch up lolz!

Well done to all the new mummies, I am so jealous! 37 weeks now and somebody is completely ignoring the eviction notice she was issued with yesterday :D my BP is high even on meds, my legs wouldnt look out of place on an elephant and its agony to walk, sleep is just not happening for me at the moment, the bp tablets are seriously messing with my head  I have a growth scan and ANC tomorrow, if they dont agree to book me in to be induced i think I might cry! Mother nature has been very mean to me, why do I have to have such short arms!! How cool would it be to be able to do your own sweep lolz.

Sorry for all the moaning, I'm a miserable so and so at the moment :o I would love to do the last bit of pg gracefully but I just cant, thank god this is definately the last time!!

Karen- Me too! Just had a phonecall from docs surgery saying my blood tests show I need Iron tablets so could I call in to collect the perscription AND the doctor would like me to have yet another bloodtest to check other levels of iron...!!!!!!???!!

    1. Why couldn't they check for 'other' levels at the same time

    and

    2. How do I know that they actually know what there doing cos if I have another blood test it will be my 5th, I'm sick of being sent for unnessecary tests because somebody hasn't bothered to do their job properly and checked to see if the blood there testing is from a pregnant woman!! I was really happy about booking my scan now Im really !!!!ED OFF!!!!

Helen- I think the two levels are Haemoglobin and Ferritin. Routinely they only test for Haemoglobin, I think, but if these are low they will then test the Ferritin levels. I think my MW said that Haemoglobin is the level of iron in your blood and Ferritin is the stored level in your body. I was tested for both at booking in and will be again at 28 weeks as I've got a history of anaemia.

Still a pain in the butt that you have to go back though- being pregnant is like a full time occupation, isn't it, with all the tests and what not!

Have fun at your 4D scan! We had 3 in the end as our little one is camera shy, it was great!

Sorry to hear you have yet another blood test but look on the bright side, I have to have twice weekly blood tests to check for pre eclampsia and I dont think that blood taking is a strong point of the midwives at our local hospital  I've lost count now but I remember the first week I had been stabbed 12 times just to get 3 samples, useless!

Trying to decide if it's worth having a 4d scan. Any opinions....?

If you can afford it I would say go for it! If I was you, I would leave it for as long as you can before going though. We had a quick peek at 17 weeks for sexing which was great but the scan's we had at 26 weeks and especially 28 weeks were so detailed it was amazing! the pic in my avvie is from the 28 week scan.

if you want I can post a pic from 17 weeks, 26 weeks and 28 weeks so you can see what a difference it makes :D

  • Oh no, don't say that! Mine is up at the mo and I'm worried I'll get tablets. Fingers crossed it goes down for this week's check then.
