Hi i am back from my 20 wk scan. it was great we had a really nice lady doing it and she really went into great detail, describing everything she was seeing. I choose the right time to ask about the sex as she said the baby has it's leg crossed so i said oh so we won't be able to find out what sex it is then. She said yes that's fine she would do it at the end. So i am team..............Surprise! She tried everything bless her to find out i had to cough really loudly, she shook my belly i turned on both my sides and nothing those legs were still firmly crossed. We all laughed as it was like the baby was doing it on purpose as it started clapping.

I didn't get weighed, no bp no sample needed. Just the scan. Which is odd as i haven't seen my Mw since booking in and not had any of these routine checks yet. It surprises me that they aren't doing it as i suffer from high blood pressure and a very fast heart rate. My normal heart rate is the same as someone doing excersise.

Oh and she told me i also have an anterior placenta like some of you have said you have. I can feel movement so give it time. She did say hubby won't feel it for some time though which made him a bit sad.

Boots have always swapped nappies for me in the past no receipt needed.

Aww elasti that's a shame, mine had it's legs crossed too, it showed really clearly on the scan. She prodded me and baby moved it's legs for about a second before promptly crossing them tightly again, i thought the same about it doing it on purpose :D (she thinks mine's a girl from the 1 second glance she got, maybe yours is an awkward female too hehe)

Up here we don't have any checks done at the 20 weeks scan either, just booking in then i don't know when?. I don't even know when i'll next see a midwife, i've got a repeat scan this Friday, then GTT end of August (i'll be 24wks), and that's all i know of.

That's a shame, Elasti. Better they tell you nothing than get you all prepared for one or the other and their wrong!

On another note has anyone's midwife told them about moisturising their perineum (sp?) so it doesn't tear during labour? Mine hasn't – i'm 32 weeks, but a friend told me she was advised to do it.
What do you use and do?

Xmaslolly, men just don't seem to grasp that thing of having to look after children, tired, sick or well. Easy street, and how could he be too tired to take the children if he then went to the pub?

Aless, yay on little pokes!!! :j

Carla, think it's just hormones making you feel cranky with your OH hun. TGell him you need regular hugs without having to ask.

    Flis, enjoy yoru dyas off!!!!

GISI, hope it passes soon, is it bloating cramps?? I got that and spent the mornings rocking back and forward till certian effects happened :o Horrid as it just makes you feel sick.

    Hypno, hoep it goes well!!

    Well done Glams OH!

Maz, congrayts on team pink!!! :D

Good luck for teh scan elasti!

Always internet shopping is the bestest respite care you can get! :D

Yippee Hypno - really glad you've sorted things with Standard Life!

Sorry you're still here Suzy (in the nicest sense!). Hope you get things sorted with your son. We are having a similar problem with a 16 year old boy who is targetting our SN 8 year old daughter . He is SN too, but obviously a lot bigger and stronger than her. We haven't got the police involved yet, but may have to go down that route too.

I know I've said this before on your other thread Fitzilian, but you really need to check out the name thing with your solicitor not rely on advice on an internet forum. Only she will know how it will tactically affect your divorce, and from what you have posted things are not easy at all with your ex. I don't actually know whether legally you can do what you want to do (and I am a solicitor myself though not specialising in matrimonial law) but I do know that jumping in to do this without being completely sure of your ground in advance is asking for trouble.

My ante-natal appt today went much better than my last two :o (in that I only had a very tiny wobbly this time round). If I opt for the elective c section (as I'm positive I will) then there aren't any circumstances other than "arriving at the hospital with the head hanging half out" (that was where I had the wobble ) when I won't get it, even if I go into labour prematurely, but the baby is currently breach anyway, so if it stays that way I can have it guaranteed on medical grounds. Scan in 2 weeks to check growth and position, and seeing my psych on Thursday to talk about stress levels again. Afterwards we went to the Ivy for lunch, as a late birthday celebration for OH, and enjoyed ourselves celeb spotting. Food was really good too, even though I couldn't finish any of my courses despite not having eaten anything since tea time yesterday due to my pathetically small appetite at the moment. Will have to go back when my appetite has returned to normal and stuff myself!
