I have actually been to Bundaberg! They make rum there too. I like Idris or Barrs. I guess everyone is different. Phoned midwife as DH was concerned that my leg cramp was lasting too long. She told me to start drinking tonic water. Yuck!!

Hey sling peoples, while you're here...what are the advantages or whatever of a sling over a normal front baby carrier? I'm worried it would hurt my back but I really haven't a clue TBH...are there reasons to sling rather than other types of carrying?
carriers in my experience are pretty un comfortable and hurt my back,
a wrap sling in particular distributes the weight of baby much more evenly and is therefore much more comfortable, they also last much longer, a typical carrier will only fit baby for 6-9 months but a sling can last upto 5years, Chris loves being carried in my wrap sling and he's 2.5yrs, he goes on my back like a piggy back but he doesn't have to hold on :)

Aww WM - hugs and sympathies to you! Are you taking Gaviscon? I have had bad heartburn (more in my throat), but not regularly enough for it to be my top complaint lol. I have plenty of others though. I think Harley has it quite bad. I swear ginger beer helps!

I do, mostly in the middle of the night. Normally just get up and chew a couple of rennie as I can't stand Gaviscon. But yesterday I had it in the daytime, whilst I was on the phone to mum. She suggested a big glass of milk. Now I don't like milk either but can manage it as long as there is some strawberry or banana flavouring in it. Anyway, was hurting lots, feeling a bit sick and generally very sorry for myself so I gave it a try. And I felt much better before I was even half way down the glass. In fact, that is one of my complaints today so I am about to go and make another glass.

Went to midwife this morning and she said that bubs is nowhere near huge and that the midwife and consultant last week were just being thoughtless. Bubs is measuring just on the average line today and even on last weeks measurements is still under the 90 percentile so she had no idea why they would worry me unnecessarily. Also she sent me home for a week of rest. The heartburn is keeping me awake at night, feeling sick during the day and generally worn out so I am on sofa rest for the rest of the week. Since I am (maybe) trying to work right up until due date she said that I was not to overdo it now and should be resting far more than I am. That's easier said than done when you are on your own. I still need to keep house clean, shop, cook, wash and everything else but I am going to give it a good shot. Making sure bubs is happy and healthy is my only concern at the moment. If that means living in an untidy house then so be it.

So ladies, you may well see quite a bit more of me this week.

  • Rather tonic water than ginger beer! I love the hint of lime one...

Nanc - I have been feeling a little queasy when cub moves a lot - not really sick as in nauseous but definitely sicky. I guess it's just cos the stomach and bowels are so compressed? When that happens there is no comfortable position to get into :(

Yes have been on Remegel as prefer them to the chalkie ones. But they stopped working. Have Gaviscon (aniseed) from doctors. Its disgusting and i wretch when i take it. Seem to have a 4 - 5am wake up every morning and can actually feel the acid burn in my wind-pipe, so may be its more like reflux. Woke at 5 this morning, went down-stairs had gaviscon, then tried to go back to sleep sat upright. It didn't happen. Was actually sick whilst in work, but even that didn't ease it. Should really go see a doctor, instead of just asking for gaviscon script. I am sure was given something different last time as gaviscon wasn't working. But doctors is a nightmare, "will have to get a triage nurse to ring you back".
So she can decide if i warrant an appointment sometime this year or not.

It's because it has Quinine in it which supposedly can help leg cramps. But everywhere on the web says not to use this during pregnancy!!! Although surely the midwife would know best. Maybe it's only a low dose in tonic water. And it's only Schwepps tonic water that has it.

Not sure whether I should buy it. Might hold off and try other things.
