Went for a tour of the maternity ward today at St George's (London). There were about 30 couples which we were surprised about seen as they do the tour every sat and mon but then we found out that today was the last ever tour as they will be doing it online from now on  We were soo lucky
.
Really liked the hospital - minimum intervention but everything on site if any complications and baby stays with you (or dad if you can't). Only down side is there are only 2 pools and they are closed if they are short of midwives. Felt a bit scared when I first walked into a delivery room but had a good look around and really glad I did as I feel more comfortable about it now. Definetly was worth doing and feel sorry for those who will now only get to do it online - it's just not the same.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

I'M AT THE TOP OF THE LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How very exciting! Thanks csh
Perhaps she'll make it out now? I'm feeling pretty horrible today, hot and cold and shivery, so maybe it's a SIGN. If not I have to go up to the hospital in the morning for monitoring and if the doctor is there I might beg him for mercy and an impromptu induction. The hospital bag is repacked for the 4th time and we've done just about everything we can in the sense of preparing for the introduction of an extra person. The child has some hard part of her grinding against my pelvis, which is about as much fun as it sounds, but her head seems firmly engaged since I can't go more than 15 minutes without making a teaspoon-sized bathroom deposit.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Just been sorting through the sheets we have been given and it seems we have 6 x moses basket sized sheets (2 fitted and 4 flat). I take it this is plenty? Also, will these be the same size we will need for in a pram? Hope so!! I take it we will need a sheet in a pram? Sorry so many questions, think I make things complicated, lol!!Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0

I read some reviews of the summer prenatal one, and all the reviews are terrible.
So i had a look around google and found this on amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelsounds-JPD-100S-Fetal-Doppler/dp/B000XS987A/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Its £21 if i buy the gel to go with it.
Out of the 25 reviews only one is bad
Im not to sure, im over weight to but im quite tall so its spread about a bit more(thanks dad for being 6'6"!)
What do you all think? People have said they heard the heartbeat at 9/10 weeks with the angelsounds one
x
I have the Angelsounds doppler and I really liked it - I always found a heartbeat with it and I used it even after the baby started moving so I felt it was well worth the money.OH is starting to worry that we haven’t really read any “normal” birth stories. He is starting to think that it’s unavoidable for things to go wrong! I am sure that people must have reasonably straightforward births too though right? Please someone tell me that there is a good chance things can go smooth(ish)!Fitz, I keep thinking this -thats why I was so pleased to hear skintchicks homebirth reassurances - although I like to hear them all to be prepared (I was in the Girl Guides me)
xxx
OK, I am definitely goimg to write up by BS today and post it because I apparently had a textbook birth which I was told by another MW was described by the Mw who attended me as 'a beautiful birth', and all the MWs who have ready my notes on visits have said 'oh well done you' so it must have been good!
If you want to read lots of positive birth stories get Ina May Gaskin's book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ina-Mays-Guide-Childbirth-Gaskin/dp/0553381156 as there is a whole section of very positive stories you may find inspiring.
So i am off NOW to write my BS and will post it. I am also sure you could have a lovely birth in hospital so just cos all the recent podsitive stories have been home births don;t read anything inbto that!
finally - a favour please. Could someone reinstate my girl symbol on the birth list, and add (planned home birth) after the weight?
