Thanks nancmat. I wonder if i'll get less due to not paying childcare. I'll suss it all out later as I've plenty of time but I do like to know how I stand with things. It always makes it hard to work things out too with OH being self employed.

Quick question - I have just got stung by a bee and my arm is swelling up - is anyone aware of any antihistamine type stuff that can be used by pregnant women?

Or do you know where I can find out?
Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early) :D

I thought they were means tested . We've never got them, and DS is 9 and DD is 8, but DH is a high earner.

Do you get DLA for the kids? If so you should get the disability element. I'd put in an application just in case Nicki.

House is a pig sty and I'm trying to tidy it but it's all DH bloody camping crap left lying everywhere that I can't get into the hut  Not amused.

So I just worked out that before my ML leave starts I have 15 full weeks in work, 6 part weeks in work and 5 weeks off for A/L! Total of 92 working days left! (Yes I am very bored today!)

Our joint income is £30k for this year whilst I'm on ML. I phoned tax credits this morning to tell them about Caitlyn, and we'll get £21 a week for her and DS. Once I have to start paying the childminder the retainer fee in September it will go up to £42 per week - so that's a bit of a weight off my mind, it'll only really cost us £10 per week instead of £30.

Our rate for 1 child with an income of £36k was £10.50 per week which is the basic rate. That's without childcare costs though. Not sure if it's been mentioned but if you claim for childcare through tax credits, you can't also do the salary sacrifice for childcare vouchers. So it's worth working out which would make you better off.

Yes we get middle rate DLA for DD. Should probably have that reassessed too tbh as she got it for 5 years at middle rate when she was 4, but I bet if they looked at it now she'd get higher rate plus mobility allowance.

Shall put that and tax credits on my ever growing list of things to do!

Doesn't matter what rate DLA you get, think the disability element is all the same anyway. But definitely apply, something's better than nothing!

Just checked it on the HMRC website and based on OH's earnings, we wouldn't qualify for any Child Tax Credits, even after no 3 comes along. So I guess that answers Glam's question and it is definitely means tested.
