    Morning all,

I was thinking of skinty also.

    Sorry long anxiety post.

Well 11 days to go and I've been very nervous the last few days. Had a bit of a scare in the night the other night and freaked out because I was on my own. (not counting the boys as they was asleep !) but had a bath and went back to sleep quite upset.

Anyway its made me think am i doing the right thing having my lil lady at home? Edited to say : ~This would be my 3rd home birth

I'm panicking about the midwives not getting to me on time or not. With ds4 I was strongly advised at 37 weeks to be induced as my previous labours have halved in lenght each time (DS1 was born in 4 hours , ds4 born in 35 mins)

The midwifes have said that i can have this one at home as the baby is with a different partner ( I dont know how they think that makes a different as surely that bit is my body not the man ).

Midwife is seeing me at home tomorrow for my 38 wks tomorrow (38 plus 4 ) and hopefully they will tell me who to phone when i go into labour as they havent done yet.

I think im going to express my concerns to them as i really don't want to end up giving birth alone. Its not the birth that scares me its the cord being around the neck and the bleeding. I might ask for a sweep.

I don't want to scare OH with my fears as it's his first and he's quesy at the best of times, even at the scan he was hyperventalating as it was in a hospital. He works nights and he's off for the next 5 nights so i feel a little bit better about that. least i wont be alone.

Sorry to go on about it but i really needed to get these doubts off my chest.

I know we all have pregnancy worries and this is completely normal i feel like im being driven around the bend with it all now worrying when i should be enjoying the last days of pregnancy

    Sorry ..and breathe..

    Morning ladies.

Suzy - if you are at all worried, definitely share your thoughts on here. You have always been good at listening to everyone else! Speak to your midwife tomorrow and see what she has to say. I don't know much about home births, but I imagine if it's one specific midwife you would have, they would give your their mobile number? If there are any problems, and labour is going too fast for her to get there, just dial the emergency services and someone will come to help you.

Do you definitely want a home birth? It seems to be quite a popular idea on here compared to other sites etc. I understand it suits some people better, but it's not for me, certainly not as a first timer. I want the reassurance of having professionals around should anything unexpected occur.

Whatever you decide to do will be what's best for you, so if you change your mind about what you want, that's fine too. Let us know how you get on with the midwife. Hopefully she can reassure you.

This is probably no use to you at all, but I wanted to reply.

    Scan tomorrow :j:j:j:j

I fancy jacket potato for tea - OH took bolgonese out so I could have it with Jackets spuds and cheese :drool::drool:

Hope you enjoy your scan today Glam! My MW phoned yesterday to say that i should call the hospital and cancel my 12 wk scan because I've had a scan after 8 weeks and so have given me a EDD so I might turn up and they won't scan me again. I'm going to risk it though as i really want it!! Plus the early scan was at a different hospital (in a different city) and they said they'd send the notes to my MF but I'm pretty sure they won't send them to my hosp too so I'm hoping the hosp will be blissfully unaware! Fingers crossed!

I had jackets for tea last night! Really fancied them after the discussion a couple of days ago! i had mine with way too much butter, cheese and some beans on the side! Yum yum!

Just catching up at the mo but will be back.......

Suzy - I think Fitzio has said everything I would say - and very well put too! All you can do now is explore your options with your MW and make your decision from there. Even if this means changing your mind now or when things start to happen - in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter just as long both you and baby are safe and happy.

And as Fitzio has said, even if things do progress too quickly for you, you can ring the emergency services - we were actually advised to do this at our labour day.

Please don't worry about things, although this is going to happen the closer things get! Hugs! x

    Morning Carla & SJ!

SJ - I would go for the scan. I had an early scan and still had my 12 weeks appointment as normal. I don't understand why you have been told to cancel it. As far as I am aware the EDD dates early on can be out by as much as 7 days either way, so I would have thought you would need the 12 week scan for a more accurate EDD

Suzy, I think Fitzio's right. Call the midwife as soon as you start having regular twinges, don't wait to be certain - and if you're worried things are going too quickly then call the emergency services.

Apparently it does make a difference with a different partner, but I'm not sure why. The midwife at my prenatal class said something about it and she didn't know why either, just that the differences can be remarkable.

    Morning ladies
Suzy cant say anymore than the other ladies but talk to your mw and she may be able to suggest something.
SJ Can not understand why they would cancel the scan had a early scan then one at 8 weeks then 12 week scan where they changed the edd from the 8 week scan so just go for it and if they say anything just act shocked and say i did not know !!!
Also Good luck the ladies with scans and hope we hear some news on skinty later. ;)
Darling son born 10/12/09 hopefully the 1st of many :j

Fitzio – Thanks for replying, I’m grateful and any input is helpful. – Yes I do want a home birth, sorry I didn’t mention that I’ve had 2 at home already and I prefer them to hospital as you have more control. Even when I had no4 induced at the hospital I was demanding a internal as I’d had a show ( unusual for me I’d never had one before) the midwife argued with me that she wouldn’t as it didn’t mean anything ! Anyway…. I won and hey ho I was rushed to the delivery room. I feel in hospital that you have to fight your corner as they are so short-staffed. If you have someone with you then it’s fine if they are assertive. My previous OH wasn’t. I prefer the calmness of HB.

NMS – Thanks. Yes your right Fitzio has said it all…I CAN change my mind. I know that everything normally all works out in the end and they are probably just normal fears. To be honest it’s very unusual for me to voice any fears, I’m a listener rather than someone who asks for advice. I’m probably taking advantage of this pregnancy thread to voice them as I don’t know you all (but feel that I do) … but I wouldn’t do it in “normal” life. Daft isn’t it.

P.s Fab pictures btw – our lil one had her hands in her face most of the time !

SJ – They probably said to cancel it as you’ve already had one and they want to save costs. I presume they are both NHS scans.. Just act dumb and turn up, I would.

Sugar – Thanks , well if the baby is anything like my OH (on the scan she was the spitting image of him) she’ll be late for everything and take her time !! So we’ll see. Hopefully not though as I’d hate to be overdue even once.

Thank you ladies – you’re the best

SJ - just insist you want the nuchal measurements so you HAVE to have a 12 week scan. Them telling you to cancel is b*ll and you are entitled to that scan. Just phone the hospital to "confirm" the appt and I doubt anyone will be the wiser.
