My hubby has mega trouble getting time off for main apts. It's just a bit of a pain as all my apts are at the hospital it is nice to have him there with me. He has to take all apts as holiday So it means he has less and less time off. He only takes half a day but it soon adds up. His place need 3 months notice too so like this new one i had today i rang him straight the way and he said no he can't get the time off but i really could do with him there especially as he is in the medical field so he understands better than me.
I am not looking forward to when i have to sit there for 2 hours on my own for my GTT i will have to take my ipod or a book. This is my signature!0 -

 Hi Skinty! Glad things are progressing for you!
I'd never heard that about calcium but those links are really interesting0 -
Karen, I thought by law men were entitled to 2 weeks at SPP which is £123 a week? Might be worth looking into as if you could afford to have only that much wage coming in it might be worth it for the 2 weeks off?
My OH is self employed as a DJ which works great for us for appointments as he can come to them all. Doesn't get any paternity pay or anything like that though I don;t think (although now I will check - would hate to miss out!) and it will work out great for us re childcare as with me working regular office hours we are never at work at the same time so don't need nursery / childminder etc.
Not sure we could have afforded this baby if the circumstances had been any different!
ETA: No SPP for the self employed. Booo!0 -
Ooo, thanks skinty! I didn't mean you had to post calcium links during labour!
Best of luck for a painless labour...I'm actually really excited - it's almost like live blogging!!
Isn't there a statutory paternity pay thingee? I thought it was 2 weeks but they don't have to be taken together. It's not the same as employers offering full pay, but it's something.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
would like to win a holiday, please!!

Nope - this is from direct.gov hereHow much do you get?
If your average weekly earnings are £90 or more (before tax), Statutory Paternity Pay is paid for one or two consecutive weeks at £123.06 or 90 per cent of your average weekly earnings if this is less.
How it's paid
Your employer will pay Statutory Paternity Pay to you in the same way and at the same time as your normal wages.
SPP is treated as normal pay and so they'll also deduct tax and National Insurance as usual.0 -
